Name: Jay Stefansson

Called: Jay. He doesn't have any nicknames or anything like that. His name's short enough.

To Remember: Jay has a moderate healing Gift of around 30 on the power scale. He's quite a talented healer. Raised by the Mithran priests in the city of the Gods, who taught him how to use his Gift. Now in their employment as a healer. Outwardly steady, dependable, stoic when it comes to his own emotions, disciplined and scholarly. Inwardly he's kinda conflicted; not entirely sure what he wants to be, not entirely sure who he is. His hearing isn't so good in his left ear. He isn't deaf, but he can't hear quiet, dull sounds on his left side. Loud, sharp noises and close conversation he can hear just fine.

Status: Commoner.

Age and date of birth: Aged 20, born on the 1st April, though he doesn't celebrate his birthday.

Place of birth: Tirragen

Magic: Jay is a talented healer, who's Gift is a khaki green colour that could almost be called grey. His Gift rates at around 30 on the mage power scale. Obviously his main talent is in healing, however he has the capacity to perform small charms. But, they have a tendancy to tire him far quicker than when he's healing, so he rarely attempts them unless it's necessary.

He can also create and sustain fire for a short period of time. Certainly nothing over a couple of minutes. Fire is incredibly taxing, not only on his magic stores but physically as well. He has no aptitude for illusions at all. Jay was raised by the Mithran priests in the city of the Gods. They are the one's responsible for teaching him how to use his Gift.

Occupation: Healer. Jay is working towards Journeyman status whilst being under the employment of the Mithran's, as a healer. He works in the Mithran temple in Corus, which often serves the common people at a small fee. However, in order to make enough money to live he's taken up healing common criminals and rogues alike for a larger fee than he would ask from the common people. The Mithran's know nothing of the extra work that he's taken on.

Where he lives: He currently has residence in the form of share house not far from the temple of Mithros in Corus. He's sharing it with several other younger Mithran priests.

Important people:

Maya Kents - He's in a relationship with Maya, though I don't think they've ever actually called it one. She's got commitment issues, he's incredibly awkward and inexperienced. They're cute. He just wants to make sure that she's happy, and safe. He loves being able to take care of her, and she's opened him up to a future, different to the other possibilities. It's the future that he's starting to want for himself. He cares about her a lot - he loves her - but that's between them.

Parents - He really has no idea who his parents are. He has no memory of his mother at all, and he was only three years old the last time that he saw his father. His mother was of Scanran heritage, which is where his light hair and light skin tone come from. His father was a Tortallan. At three years of age, his father took him to the Mithran temple in the city of the Gods and left him there. He hasn't been seen or heard from since. All that's known about Jay's history is that they're originally from Tirragen, his surname's Stefansson, his birthdate, his age and that his father cared for his son, which is the reason that he left him. For Jay's sake and safety. Other than that, nothing else is known about his parents, where he came from and why he ended up with the Mithran priests.

Caleb Baker - Friend - A young Mithran priest and the closest of Jay's friends. Actually, he's pretty much his only friend in Corus at the moment. At 21 years of age, he's a little older than Jay. Caleb is incredibly philosophical and wise, even for someone who is only 21 years old. He gives great advice, always willing to support and help his friends when they need it and is just generally a good guy. But he's a tiny little judgemental. Caleb has a room in the same share house as Jay, so they see a lot of each other.

Appearance:

Hair: Quite thin, fine, blonde hair. Hair that he obviously inherited from his Scanran heritage. His hair is the kind of fine and thin that's whispy and fly away and as a result is soft, though hard to tame and keep under control. He wears it short, with his fringe cut above his eye brows. When not in temple garb and working, his hair is mostly hidden under an old rough, hide cap.

Eyes: Slightly almond shaped, framed in thin eyelashes and thick, heavy set, brown eyebrows. It's the colour of his eyes that make them kind of unique and special. They're almost what could be called a midnight blue colour. Certainly a pretty pretty colour. His eyes give you a snap shot of the person he is inside. The person that you don't get to see. They're conflicted, a little lost and uncertain. A little vulnerability. It's actually pretty intense.

Face: He has a youthful boyish look about his facial features, again, a trait that's inherited from his Scanran bloodlines. He has quite a long face, with a strong jaw line that makes his face curl in dramatically from the jaw, down to his chin. His chin is quite narrow, straight across its width with little to no point. A wide-ish forehead that's mostly hidden under his cap any way. His nose is a little bent, though nothing that's automatically noticeable. It has a defined, slightly incosistent bit between his nostrils that overhangs a bit. But, it's not all that special. Just a nose. He has narrow lips. His top lip curved more than sharp in the centre and wide. His bottom lip fuller than the top and folded outwards.

Height: He stands at around 5'7, give or take a few inches.

Body: He hasn't a bad body, but he's really lacking and kind of muscular definition. A little thin, but not overly so. His body is suited and honed by years of temple life. Wide, thin shoulders. Thin collar bones that stick out a tiny bit. Long arms, with an arm span greater than his height. Big hands with long boney fingers. His hands are smooth and soft, which is unusual for a guys hands. You can tell by his hands that he hasn't done a lot of labour work. Wiry legs that have a bit of hidden strength in them. He has a little pot belly, but it's certainly nothing substantial. Not at all noticeable under a shirt or when he's clothed. Small pecs, again nothing substantial. The kind of butt that's impossible to get trousers or breeches of any kind to sit right on. His butt never quite fills them.

Colouring: A pale coloured skin tone, with a pink pigmentation that adds a glow to his skin. A testament to mixed heritage and lack of a tan. Other than one or two freckles on his forehead, his skin is flawless.

Other: No piercings, no tattoos, very few scars certainly none worth mentioning. Nothing noticeable like that. He wears no jewelry or adornment. He moves with this laid back, unhurried gait.

Clothing: When he's working or he's been working he wears the robes of the Mithran temple; orange in colour. They're comfortable and it's what he's used to. It's what he grew up wearing. When he's not working, but wandering about the city. He mainly wears normal, very plain, breeches and shirts of differing duller colours. Usually, he wears sandals on his feet, even in the colder months.

Personality:

Lost. Jay is honestly a little lost in life. But, it isn't something that shows. He isn't sure of who he is as a person, what his goals are, what he wants out of life and how he wants to live his life. He was placed into temple life and not given a choice about what he wants to do, about who he wants to be as a person and it doesn't sit well with him. He's uncertain about who he's supposed to be. He's had a lot of time to think about it, to be honest thinking just confuses him more. He's caught between the life that he leads and imagining himself in a different life. Each time he imagines it, it's a little different. I guess, you could call him a dreamer. He's certainly a philosopher. But, it causes a lot of inner conflict.

In order to compensate for that conflict he goes to great lenghts and great pains to ensure that he comes across as one of these steady and stable guys. It's a rare quality to find in a young guy but Jay has it in bucketloads. Some days it takes a lot of work, and it takes a lot out of him. On those days you won't see him. He's steadfast and resolute. With strong convictions and an even stronger determination when the situation calls for it. This steadfastness is in some ways, a weakness. Outwardly, he's always the same; his moods, his behaviour and his approach to others are always consistent. It makes him a little predictable. He's been locked in this life where change happens rarely so change has become a bit of a problem for Jay. He's terrified of it and he tends to try and avoid it. He's dependable almost to a fault. He's true to his word. Once he makes a promise or says that he'll be somewhere or do something, I guarantee that he'll follow it through. He doesn't lie, he doesn't hide the truth or try to avoid it. It makes him a very honest man. Because of that people tend to trust him very quickly.

Jay's insanely loyal. Perhaps, partially due to his fear of change. He has crazy amounts of loyalty to the Mithrans who took him in, raised him and educated him. But, that loyalty just adds to the inner conflict. It makes him feel incredibly guilty over even contemplating a different life. He's the kind of guy who'll do anything for his friends and those he cares about, even things of questionable legality. He hasn't been in any thing even resembles a romantic relationship, but he's the kind of person who will lock himself into a relationship and remain in that relationship even if he's unhappy, even if it's torture for him. He won't be the one doing the breaking up. It's exactly the same situation with friendships. Once he's earned and awarded friendship status, it's that way forever, no matter how many time or to what degree he's hurt. He's a tiny little bit self-destructive.

He's very disciplined in regards to his emotions. He keeps a tight reign on them. Tight enough to be called a stoic. He rarely puts his emotions on public display. He's always outwardly calm, centered, passive and serene. He doesn't overreact to feelings like joy, grief, pleasure or pain. Don't get me wrong, he is normal and he does feel them. He just keeps them well under control. It has its positive and its negatives. He is fantastic in situations of heightened emotional distress. He has a cool calm head on his shoulders when most people tend to lose their heads. He's a good leader and people tend to look to him to lead them because of the fact that he's steady, dependable and has a calm demeanor. But, bottling your emotions is never good for you. What you see on the outside is not always what's going on with him on the inside. And, he can seem to be a little cold, a little distant to people who don't know him well enough to know any different.

For a slightly complicated person, he leads quite a simple life. He has very few actual possessions. With the exception of books and clothing, he really owns nothing else. He doesn't spend his money on decoration, only on necessities. His one vice is books. He's an avid reader and has been even before he could read. His room is full of piles of books of all kinds, all genres and all different subjects. He spends hours reading them. He eats quite simple food. Quality staple foods instead of gourmet food. He doesn't drink, and therefore spend money, on alcohol. He doesn't gamble or bet or anything of the kind. He values things that others would probably scoff at. Simplicity, loyalty, wholesome conversation, silence, time for thought and reflection. What money he doesn't spend, which is three quarters of his pay, he saves. He has no idea what he's saving for, but he's managed to acrue a fair amount of money. In some ways, it originates from being raised in a temple and living a temple life.

He's quite educated for a commoner. Being raised by the Mithran priests and being educated by them has had its benefits. Education is one of those. But, he's not the kind of person to sit down and work on a maths equation. He has a huge store of knowledge, essentially meaning that he knows a lot of stuff. And, it comes out when the situation calls for it. He's also educated in the use of his healing Gift. He's currently working towards Journeyman and will make that in a year, maybe less. However, his Gift is another source of complication. It makes him money and he can help people by using it, however, inwardly, he's not entirely sure if it's a good or a bad thing to have.

History:

When you come to think of it, his childhood though different, was rather unexciting. Born the only child of a Scanran and a Tortallan. Born and raised in Tirragen until he was three, then taken to the Mithran temple in the city of the Gods by his father. Pretty much dumped there for his own sake and his safety. Nothing else is known about his parents, or what life was like when he was just a baby. He certainly can't remember it. The only memory he has is a very vague memory of his father. He's not entirely sure if it's real or something he made up when he was a child.

The Mithran's took him in and raised him from then on. It was really a rather unexciting childhood. Living a temple life, starting his lessons as soon as he arrived and observing temple ritual such as dawn worship on Sundays. It was a disciplined life, but not a bad one. In fact, it was quite a good life, quite sheltered, with no real hardship. The Mithran's looked after him and provided for him well and continue to do so. In fact, it is their wish for him to become a Mithran priest or Mithran mage.

When he was five years old he was tested for magic and found to possess it. Which, started another series of lessons in the use of his magic, healing, anatomy, diseases and so forth. These lessons still continue and will continue until he reaches Journeyman status in a year or so, though they became less frequent as he learnt to control and use his magic. When he turned 19 he was sent to Corus to further enhance his healing knowledge and because the Mithran priests thought it time that he experienced a bit of the world and life outside the city of the Gods. He complied, while not looking forward to it at all. They found him a room in a share house with Mithran priests from Corus, which as you can imagine, was and is a little different from temple life. In his first few weeks working for the temple and living in Corus in a share house which required him to pay a small amount of rent which he couldn't afford, he found life to be a bit of a struggle. So, he took on healing criminals and those who's occupations are not so legal for a bit of extra money.

Likes: Simple things, silence, time to think, reading, watching the dawn and the sunset, staple foods, saving money, juice of any kind, drinking water, the way the rain sounds on the roof, wholesome conversation, getting to know people, building friendships, two-way loyalty, feeling clean, having clean hair, sitting up late at night watching the stars.

Dislikes: Having too many people around him at one time, not having space or time to think, not knowing who he is, what he wants from life and what he wants to be, coffee, tea, alcohol, gambling, feeling dirty, sleeping too much, stray animals, being abandoned, gourmet/fancy food.
