Full Name: Joschka Kohl

Called: Josch mainly. (pronounced exactly like Josh).

Status: Well-to-do commoner.

Age and date of birth: Aged 23, born on September 5th (modern calendar).

Place of birth: Cria, Galla.

Current Residence: He has a house in Cria, but he's currently renting a small apartment above the market.

Fighting Skills: Josch is fairly good with daggers, knives, really anything sharp. He's an assassin, so of course he is. However, he isn't so good at hand-to-hand combat. He knows enough to hold his own, but he's outmatched against people trained in hand-to-hand. He prefers to wield a weapon instead of a bare fist. There's extra security. He is pretty snappy with throwing knives. He's quick and he's accurate and he's practiced a lot to refine it. His preferred weapons are daggers and knives. Of which he carries at least four on his person, including throwing knives.

Magic: He doesn't have it. He's not jealous of those who do and he's not fazed by it, unless it's being used on him.

Occupation: Mostly, he's an assassin. Before moving to Corus, he was a member of the Gallan Rogue. He mainly works with knives/daggers and poisons. He'll take just about any job. He's not cold, or void of any morals or emotional reactions. But, he has a job to do and not knowing his mark or having no personal connection to his mark makes it easier for him. It makes his kills nameless and faceless.

If work is scarce, or he needs money between jobs, he can easily find work as an apothecary. He did a year of study on the properties and uses of plants at the Gallan university, though only reaching the white robes of the novice rank. It helps, with providing an alternative occupation and with his chosen career.

Important people:

- Parents -
Bern Kohl - Father - Bern works as a Gallan law keeper. He's essentially the equivalent to corporal in the Provost Guard. He's the extremely dodgy kind of law keeper though, with Rogue ties and Rogue allegiance. A man who holds people at a distance, including his children. His work is more important than his family. No matter the situation, he interacts on a need to know basis.
Adali Kohl - Mother - From a well off merchant family. They own ships and they trade stuff, mostly luxuries. Adali keeps the books in order for her family and she receives an income from them. Enough to send Joschka to university. She's scheming, manipulative and driven by one goal - upward social movement. But, she's also deluded. It's not going to happen.

- Siblings -
Birk Kohl - Younger brother - At 19 years old. Birk's followed in his father's foot steps. He's a young law keeper under the command of his father. He's undoubtedly dodgy as well. But, he's also an upstart. A trait that he's inherited from his mother. He's never satisifed. He always wants more than he has and he'd do anything to get it. Doesn't get along with Joschka.
Lene Kohl - Younger sister - 13 years old. Lene is Adali's biggest hope. She's being groomed for higher status marriage. Which, isn't actually going to happen. It's turned her into a spoilt brat, who gets everything that she wants and more. At 13 years old, she's already a bitch.

Appearance:

Hair: Thickthick brown hair. Dark brown at the roots with a lighter brown at the tips. It never sits right, so it's pretty much always all over the place. Medium length, much longer on the top than the sides and back. He has the kind of hair that's great for running finger tips through. He's got a habit of doing that.

Eyes: They are a real startling blue in colour. His eyes are almond shaped, though more narrow and long than wide. Framed in long eye lashes that touch his cheek, and ringed in darker smudges. They're a lot of things at once. Emotional, intense, intelligent, almost pretty.

Face: He's actually really different to look at in his facial features. He has this really long narrow face, that's wider at the top of his head than the bottom. He has this awesome chiseled bone definition in his cheeks and cheek bones. Strong cheek bones, that sit low on his face and strong bone definition right where his jaw meets his skull. When combined, they cause his cheeks to narrow in. It's hard to explain, but he can has a banner and it's accurate. His nose is wide-ish, but it suits his face. His lips are gorgeous, though a little feminine. Large and full. The top lip is shaped like the top half of a love heart, with sharp lines. His bottom lip turned out so that there's a tiny bit of shadow on his chin underneath. No word of a lie, his lips are just amazing. His facial expressions are just so...animated.

Height: He stands at 181 centimeters or 5'11.

Body: He is fit, and he looks fit. He's strong and muscled, but not overtly so. Strong in the arms, and broad shouldered. He is stronger in his arms than he is in his legs. Forearms more so, than upper arms. His body angles in slightly from his pecs, then widens again a little at his hips. His height is distributed evenly between his legs and his torso, so he doesn't look gangly and awkward despite being quite tall. He looks and he moves like he's comfortable in his own skin.

Colouring: He has olive coloured skin, with the occasional freckle and dark spot. He doesn't burn, and he doesn't tan.

Other: A few scars, nothing really worth mentioning. Just normal scars from getting into scraps, and learning how to wield daggers and knives. He has one across his thigh, about 30 cm above his knee. It's a pink line, it was expertly healed, so it's no big deal.

Clothing: He lives in shirts and breeches. White shirts mainly, and a combination of black and brown breeches. White shirts suit his skin color. His clothes are tailored to fit him and his body shape. It's a vice. He likes to look good in his clothing.

Personality:

Fairly easy going. He may be an assassin, but he definitely isn't the stereotypical cold, calculated, arsehole that you usually encounter in archetypal assassin characters. Joschka likes people. He has no trouble talking to people, getting close to people and getting to know people. He develops relationships and bonds with others quite easily. He's friendly enough, endearing, polite, he's involved. He laughs, he smiles, he flirts, he charms. He's very good at being charming and endearing. And, it is all genuine.

This is where his mind gets a little complicated. He doesn't often emotionally invest in relationships and with people deep enough to make those bonds impossible to sever. He's never any body's best friend, soul mate, long term romance or anything else that's indispensable. It isn't that he's not capable of being those things. It's just easier for him if he's ever confronted with completing a job on a mark that he knows.

That being said, he always tries to take jobs where it's possible for him to keep distance between himself and his mark. He prefers his mark to be nameless and faceless. That way, he avoids any conflict of interest, any of those feelings of guilt, remorse and regret and he's not killing a friend, but a stranger. He's also very aware that it's impossible to avoid in every situation, because everyone's a potential mark. In terms of his occupation, he's good at what he does. He tries to make his kills as quick as possible, with as little pain as possible. It isn't easy seeing people in pain begging for their life, so he avoids giving them the opportunity.

He's a fairly level sort of person. He has emotions, of course, but not excessively. When he gets angry, it's never over the top. In fact, he's never over-the-top with anything. The only small exception is vanity. Joschka is vain. He knows that he has a certain look and it can be appealing. And, he uses it.

He's quite educated. He can certainly write well, read, do numbers and speak well. He comes from a family where education is important. It just depends on how you define "education." Combine a Rogue education with a University, academic education. He's street wise, thanks to growing up with Rogue "uncles" and a dodgy law keeper for a father. On the other hand, his mother pretty much shoved academic education down the throats of all of her children. She has this deluded notion that the family will one day be elevated to the noble class and they have to be prepared, which essentially meant over-educating her children, no matter what the cost.

So, he's inherited this strange combination of the equivalent of a noble's academic education and a Rogue education. He's logical. He weighs up the pro's and con's and acts on what's best. He values education, not necessarily academic education, but some kind of education. He knows how to be a gentleman. But, he also has this scewed moral compass which is evident in his choice of occupation and the fact that he is totally comfortable around Rogue's. Fortunately, he hasn't inherited his mother's need for social upward movement. He couldn't care less. He's comfortable in his own skin, in who he is as a person and where his life is heading. He's grown into his own person. It wasn't something that was present from the beginning, but rather something that happened as he matured.

History:

His parents were childhood friends. Though, it didn't develop into a romantic relationship until later. Adali's parents, being merchant class, didn't approve of her choice of friend and they tried preventing her from seeing Bern. But, things happen and at 18 years of age, she fell pregnant with Joschka, by then it was too late. There was nothing that Adali's parents could do, but accept the circumstances with one stipulation. That Bern and Adali marry before the baby's born. Bern proposed, Adali accepted and they married.

Joschka was born two months into their marriage. His childhood was a little different. Adali's delusions that their family will one day be promoted to the noble class, meant that along with his siblings, he was tutored, and educated and groomed. While his father kept contact and did business with Roguey types. So, he grew up with Rogue "uncles." It wasn't a bad childhood, it was just a different one.

His rogue uncles gave him an education of their own. Teaching him how to do a variety of things - steal, drink, con, use knives and daggers, fight, about poisons and so on. As a young, impressionable teenager who was being groomed for a completely different way of life, their lessons and stories captivated and motivated him. Eventually, his mother sent him off to get a University education. Though, he absorbed as much information as he could, he really wasn't interested in an academic education, or being a puppet for his mother any longer. Half a year through University, he was asked by one of his "uncles" to make up a poison to kill a man. He did so, and was paid a substantial amount. About a month later, he accompanied several of his "uncles" on what was supposed to be a simple raid. Instead it turned ugly and Josch killed someone. It kind of all happened from there.

After only a year of university he dropped out and joined the Gallan Rogue. He managed to keep it secret from his mother for two years. But, the shit hit the fan when she did find out. And it was argument and disappointment galore. It got to the point where he simply couldn't put up with it any longer, so he packed his things and moved to Corus.

Dislikes: Homesickness, the wind, snow, ale, red wine, eggs, animals generally, homesickness, University, boredom, having wet feet, knowing his mark, the yucky feelings of regret, guilt and tension, the cold.
