History: One of the founding members of the Serpent Society, Diamondback began her training by joining Taskmaster's Academy in Pennsylvania, where she was trained by Anaconda and Crossbones.  Her family, for the most part, had been obliterated, and Rachel Leighton was left to fend for herself.  Opting to take the easy way out -- the way of a criminal, Diamondback took the first opportunity she saw, as a member of the Serpent Society.  Diamondback became close friends with Bushmaster during their first mission, where they were sent to search for M.O.D.O.K.  Bushmaster barely survived the encounter, but Diamondback and the rest of the Society were able to slay the villain and gain the profit and prestige they were promised.  However, during the mission, they were ambushed by Captain America, who which Diamondback immediately fell for.

The budding relationship between Diamondback and Captain America was sparked when Diamondback was suddenly shot by the Scourge of the Underworld.  Captain America brought her to the hospital, obviously feeling something for her, as well.  However, Diamondback returned to the Society, and when the new recruits from the forth Serpent Squad were initated into the group, Diamondback befriended Fer-de-Lance.  When Viper began her invasion of the Society, Fer-de-Lance was sent to kill Sidewinder, but was confronted by Diamondback, who eventually knocked her into a computer and electrocuted her.  Diamondback then proceeded to get help from Captain America, but he was too late.  The Serpent Society was already in shambles.

Diamondback was eventually mind-swapped with the X-Man Dazzler.  For a short while, Diamondback worked with the X-Men to regain her body, but in the end, betrayed them all and escaped with the mythical item they were looking for with Sidewinder.  Diamondback then contemplated going straight, as she thought it would bring her closer with Captain America.  It succeeded, and during their first date, she was aided by Black Mamba, Anaconda, and Asp from any disturbances.  Upon discovering this information, Cobra, now calling himself King Cobra, vowed revenge on Diamondback, and held a trial for her, where she was sentenced to death.  Sidewinder helped her escape, but would not help her return for her friends.  Paladin, instead, aided her in saving Black Mamba and Asp from King Cobra's clutches.

The trio of girls decided to form their own mercenary group, the B.A.D. Girls.  However, just as they formed the group, they were ambushed by Anaconda, Rock Python, and Puff Adder.  M.O.D.A.M. interrupted the battle, kidnapping the B.A.D. Girls and Anaconda and bringing them to Superia, who invited them to join her Femizons.  It was there that Diamondback found her former enemy, Sheoke Sanada (aka Snapdragon).  Snapdragon eventually kidnapped Diamondback and threw her into the ocean, drowning her.  She was saved by fellow Femizon Ion, and the Femizons were able to revive Diamondback, who wanted out of the super-human industry completely.

Later confronting Snapdragon, Diamondback killed the woman in a blind rage and continued helping Captain America in his missions as a sort of sidekick.  However, soon the relationship ended, and Diamondback went on to work as a freelance mercenary.  Recently, she has resurfaced with the B.A.D. Girls in Cable & Deadpool, and later appeared in Civil War as a member of the Seecret Avengers.

This page isn't nearly as in-depth as I'd like it to be, but Diamondback is by far the most important member of the Serpent Society, and it would take FOREVER to go as deep as I'd like to on her.
