While Arowanas generally won't seek out trouble with tankmates, they will eat anything small enough to fit into their large mouths. Plan ahead; a very large tank will be needed when the youngster grows up. In a roomy tank the Arowana shows off its graceful, sleek movements. They prefer tanks with open swimming space and a few hardy plants although they hang out near the top of the tank for most of the day. Arowanas are very good jumpers, being able to jump five feet or more, thus the tank must be very tightly covered with a solid canopy.
