This fish is a favorite for beginers  because its a hardy fish that gives birth to live young every month. The male is very colorful with ornate finnage and a gonopodium; females are very dull in coloration. These fish are vigorous swimmers and prefer groups of four to six fish. Provide plenty of cover and floating plants and you  may be able to succesfully raise the fry.
