“Critical education prepares students to be their own agents of social change, their own creators of democratic culture.”

-Ira Shor, Critical Teaching and Everyday Life

Administering Service Learning Programs, Ed P&L 708, is a graduate service-learning seminar course designed and taught by Dr. Susan Jones at the Ohio State University Department of Educational Policy and Leadership. “The focus of the course is on developing knowledge about service-learning and enhancing skills and competencies for designing service-learning opportunities in higher education, as well as for active community involvement” (Jones, 2000, Course Syllabus).

During this seminar, I had the opportunity to engage in worthwhile community service work and critical reflection with my service site, my peers, and course faculty. To better understand the far-reaching impacts of my service-learning experience, this web sight aims to provide a greater understanding of service-learning, my community service sites, and the issues and questions I have faced. I hope it helps you in sharing the insights I have gained.
