Sess sat in his classroom, and sorted out his papers. He stopped and sat down. He ran his fingers through his hair and muttered to himself. ‘I can’t get the image of him out of my mine...’he thought to himself. He rubbed his temples. The image played over and over into his head. Of Yasha moaning out his name, laying there half naked. The bell rang and snapped him out of his thoughts. He watched the students walk in.
He waited for one specific student to come in. After waiting for about five minuets the normal buzz started to fill in the room. Sess stood up but then the door slammed open. Sess and the class looked to the door. Yasha stood there, eyes red and really grumpy looking. Yasha walked and sat down in his desk. And started muttering. Miroku tapped his shoulder.
“Hey man, sorry I bailed on Friday. I was going to miss the bus.” He said.
Yasha shrugged. “Whatever. I don’t care,”
Miroku grinned. “Cool, after class meet me, you can meet my friends,” he said.
Yasha grinned and nodded. Sess coughed loudly and Yasha turned his head around. He grunted at the teacher and slumped his desk. Sess narrowed his eyes and started the lesion. Yasha ignored it and started wandering off in his own mind.
‘That’s right’ he thought. ‘I should be hanging out with kids my age. Not teachers.’ He thought. A blush crossed his face. ‘Not after making an ass of myself,’ he thought angrily. ‘Great now he thinks I’m gay, but I’m not!’ he thought and slammed his fist on his desk.
The entire class looked at him. He looked around and slumped father in his desk. ‘Great...this is even better...’ he looked up to see Sess’s hard gaze on him. He slammed his head on the desk and refused to move his face. Sess coughed and went back to his lesion.
“Now for your project I want all of you to research a legend, it doesn’t have to be local it can be worldly. But I want you to research it, tell me what it is, and tell what its impact is on the local area. It’s due by the end of the month so I’m giving you plenty of time to do it. I want at least 5-7 pages.” He said.
The class moaned and he glared at them to get them to shut up. The class shut up and the bell rang. He sat back down and everyone started to leave. Miroku pulled at Yasha’s sleeve.
“Come on, let’s go,” he said.
Yasha looked at Sess. Sess was shuffling through some papers. He looked up at Yasha. Yasha turned away quickly and faced Miroku.
“Yeah let’s go,” he said.
Sess watched as Yasha left the class room. Sess turned away and looked back at his papers. Yasha looked back at Sess one more time and left.

The girls waited for Miroku to come by. Sango struggled with her locker and bit and forced it open. Kagome laughed at her attempts.
“You should stop putting so much stuff in your locker.” Kagome said.
Sango snorted. “Heh, I can’t help it,” she said and shrugged.
Kagome laughed and saw Miroku heading their way. Kagome waved and elbowed Sango. Sango poked her head from her locker and frowned at Miroku. Kagome looked at her.
“What’s the matter?” she asked.
Sango shook her head. “That idiot groped me yesterday,” she said. “I’m still pretty pissed at him.” She muttered.
Kagome laughed nervously and patted her back. Miroku walked up to Sango and put his arm around her. She shook her head and pulled away from him. He laughed and held his arms up.
“Relax Sango, I won’t bit.” He said. “Too hard...”
Sango turned her head. Kagome giggled at her friend and walked up to Yasha. He snapped out of his stupor and looked at her. She blushed a bit and smiled at him.
“Hey Yasha, remember me?” she asked.
He blinked. “Yeah, you’re Kagome right?”
She nodded. “Yeah! I’m glade you remembered.” She said.
He blinked again and rubbed his neck. Things got quiet as he tried to think of something else to say. Just as he was about to say something she jumped in.
“Hey, um I was wondering if you would like to...well...” she blushed and went on. “I wonder if you want to go...out sometime?” she asked hopefully.
He was taken back. ‘Whoa...where did that come from? She asked me out...’ he thought to himself. He looked at her. Her eyes were big and she smiled at him sweetly. ‘Well she is cute, yeah I haven’t dated anyone since Kikyo...’ he looked at her one more time. She started to look less hopeful then before.
“Yeah...That sounds good,” he said without thinking.
She smiled and hugged him. “Alright! Thank you!”
He moved back a bit but gave her a small grin. “Yeah, so when can I pick you up?”
She pulled out his hand. “Tonight at 5. I live at the restaurant that you and Mr. Youkai came to. If you forgot where it is then call this number,” she said writing on his hand.
She smiled and went off to her next class. He grinned and waved to her. He looked back at his hand. ‘Yeah, I should be going out with girls my age. I mean I tried with an older girl and look what happened,’ he thought. He pulled his book bag close to him and started out. He walked across the parking lot and made his way to the bus. While he was walking he noticed someone walking behind him. He turned slowly and saw who it was.
Yasha’s eye’s widened ‘Sess!’ he started walking faster to the bus. Sess looked up and noticed yasha walking faster. He was tempted to follow him but stopped himself.
‘No, I don’t need to follow him. He’s a student. I’m not paid to care.’ He thought. He went for his motor cycle and got it ready. ‘I shouldn’t have taken him out to lunch anyway. Or let him drink that much.’ He got his stuff ready and started the bike. ‘Why should I care about how much he drinks, he’s old enough to know how much to drink and what not to.’
His bike roared to life and drove off. After 30 minuets of driving he arrived at the restaurant were Rin was. He got off and went in. He opened the door and was attacked by something small and energetic. Sess pulled Rin up and held her. She grinned and hugged him. He noticed something on her face. He pulled her back.
“Rin? What is that on your face?” he asked.
She rubbed her face. “Make up! Sis put some on my face,” she said.
Sess’s eye’s narrowed. Suddenly Kagome ran out of a room and up to Sess. She bowed and smiled at him.
“Sorry about that Mr. Youkai. She wanted to see what it was like to wear make up and I put some on,” she said.
He nodded and put Rin down. She dragged him over to a table with her stuff on it and started to gather her things. She looked at Kagome and sniffed.
“What’s that?”
“Perfume,” she said. “I have a date tonight,” she sang out.
“Date?” Rin asked.
“I’m going out with a boy,” she said and put on some lipstick.
Rin walked up to her and looked at her. Kagome sung around in the mirror and winked at herself. Rin giggled.
“Who are you going out with?” Rin asked.
Kagome bent down. “Remember the boy Papa brought in the one time?” she said.
Rin thought for a moment then nodded. “Yasha!”
Sess head perked up at the sound of Yasha’s name. He walked over slowly to hear what Rin and Kagome were talking about.
“Well I’m going out with him,” she said smiling.
She put on some light gloss and began to brush her hair, humming as she did it. Sess leaned against the wall and tilted his head back. ‘Of course he’d go out with Kagome, she’s a cute girl and his age.’ He thought. ‘More or less I really shouldn’t care weather or not he dates a girl,’
He pulled away from the wall and took Rin’s hand. She smiled at him and waved goodbye to Kagome. Kagome was too busy humming to notice. Sess made it to the door and turned around to face Kagome. She looked out the door and waved. He nodded and left.

Yasha stood outside the restaurant. He tapped his foot a couple of times and looked around. ‘May be I should go in,’ he thought. He coughed and touched the door. Just as he was about to knock the door opened quickly and Kagome was face to face with him. The stood there in silence for a moment. She laughed quickly and ushered him inside. He rubbed his head and closed the door.
“Uh sorry about that, am I too early?” he asked.
“No, no, I’m just a little late that’s all,” she said.
She started to run upstairs, she turned to Yasha and smiled. “Make yourself at home, Mama’s in the kitchen you can meet her,” Kagome said and ran upstairs.
Yasha stood there and kicked off his shoes. He was about to step on the floor when he heard a shout from upstairs.
“Guest slippers [1] are next to the closet!”
Yasha froze then looked over, sure enough there were some. He slipped them on and walked around the small house. The living room and the kitchen were connected, but they were nicely furnished. He walked into the kitchen and looked around. Large refrigerators, many knifes and stoves. He walked to the door that connected the restaurant to the kitchen and looked in.
Nobody was there, ‘Must be closed’ he thought. He pushed open the door and peeked in. The lights were off but he could still see inside somewhat. He touched the tables and felt the table cloth.
“Kagome’s father made this restaurant from scratch you know,” a voice said.
Yasha jumped back and turned around. There was an older woman, she wasn’t extremely old but she did look like a mother. Her hair was cut short and slightly curly on her bangs. She smiled at Yasha.
“He picked the spot and everything, we spent a lot of money on this place,” she said.
She touched one of the tables and sat down.
“After he died I couldn’t get rid of the place, so I had my father come and live with us. He helped me raise Kagome and her brother and keep this restaurant in business.” She said and smiled at him.
He gave her an odd look. “Why are you telling me this?”
“You seem like such a nice boy. Kagome has been talking about you since you came in,” she said.
He didn’t move or blink. She got up and walked up to Yasha. Once she was by him she touched his head and patted it.
“Kagome always has good judgment,” she said.
Just then Kagome ran down the stairs and up to Yasha. She caught her breath and smiled. She hooked her arm with his and started to drag him away.
“Bye Mama!” she shouted.
Kagome’s mother waved goodbye and they were outside. Yasha looked at Kagome. She gave him a sheepish smile.
“Sorry about Mama. She can be odd at times,” she said.
He shrugged. “Whatever, I don’t care,” he said. “You have a brother?”
“Huh? Oh yeah Sota. He’s just a little older then Rin,” she said.
She began to look around. “So where’s your car?”
“Car?”
“Yeah,” she said still looking.
“Well I don’t have one,” he said.
She smacked her head then laughed. “Ok then, well how are we getting to the movies?”
“We could take the bus,” Yasha said pointing to the nearby bus stop.
Kagome sighed. “Not as romantic as I would have liked, but it will do...”
The bus came shortly after and they walked in. He paid for her bus fair and they sat down. The bus started and they were off. Yasha began to twiddle his thumbs around and look out the window. Kagome looked at him from time to time and sighed. She leaned into Yasha.
“So tell me about yourself.” She said.
“Me?”
“Who else am I asking?” she said laughing.
He coughed. “I don’t know...What do you want me to say?”
“Well tell me about your family, where you came from, hobbies, dislikes, past relationships...” she stated off.
He blinked and rested his head on his hand. “I came from Kyoto, I lived there my whole life, but in different houses. My mother died when I was little...” he muttered.
She touched his shoulder. “I’m sorry...”
“It’s not your fault,” he said and looked out the window. “I’ve lived in foster homes all my life. As soon as I turned 18 I moved out of the foster homes and into an apartment.” He said.
“Why did you move here?” she asked.
He didn’t answer at first. “...I like the weather here,” he answered.
She didn’t press him. He slowly turned back to her and sighed a bit. ‘It’s not like I hate her. But this is really awkward. She’s a sweat girl really, but...’
She turned to him and smiled. “We’re almost there,”
He nodded. ‘...Something’s missing...’
@~’~~,~~
They got to the movie with out too many awkward pauses. He offered to pay but she paid for her own ticket and snacks. Yasha grinned. ‘Well at least she’s independent’ he thought. She led them into the theater and they took their seats in the middle. He leaned over to her.
“What are we seeing?” he asked.
She blushed a bit. “Kagemusha [2],” she answered quickly and the movie started.
Yasha frowned. ‘Kind of an old movie isn’t it? Must have re-released it,’ he thought.
Most of the movie went fine. Kagome, being really nervous was very careful not to touch the armrest. Yasha was too into the movie to really care. But there were those very few moments when they accidentally touched hands or bumped into each other. Once the movie ended the got up and left. Yasha smirked.
“I liked that, a little old for my tasted but still enjoyable.” He said.
She smiled. “I’m glad you liked it. It’s one of my favorites, but since it was so old I didn’t know if you’d like it or not,” she said.
“I like the old tales of the warring times, and demons,” he said.
She grabbed his arm and started pulling him. She turned back to the surprised boy. “Come here I want to show you something,” she said.
He nodded and she dragged him for about a block. Once they jumped out of an ally and ran through some streets they stopped at an old shrine. She began to walk up the steps as he caught his breath. He then jogged up to her and followed her to a tree.
“A long time ago there was a jewel called the Shikon no Tama, or ‘Jewel of the four souls’. It was created from the souls of a powerful priestess and a powerful demon. They were in a battle for seven days and seven nights. Once the priestess lost the energy the monster began to devour her. But she used the last of her strength to seal it and that created the jewel.” She said.
She touched the tree and Yasha watched her expectantly. “The jewel was passed down to many generations, till one day a village of exterminators found it and entrusted it to a powerful priestess. She was very young but very powerful. Soon she became a target for all demons and humans.”
She looked at him. “One day a demon, a dog demon tried to take it from her. She stopped him but did not kill him. The next day he tried again and again. But he could never get the jewel from her, and she would never kill him. One day he asked her why? And she replied that they were alike. Both were outcasts in their worlds. The priestess for being so powerful and the carrier of the Shikon no Tama, and him for being half-demon, half-human. So they fell in love.”
A look of sadness crossed her face. Yasha watched her. “What happened then?” he asked quietly.
“The priestess offered to turn the half-demon human so they could be together and become normal. He accepted and they were to meet the next day with the Shikon no Tama. On the day that she would bring the jewel to him she was attacked, by him. He awaited her and was attacked by her. He became so angry that he attacked her village and took the Shikon no Tama. He began to run away but was hit by an arrow by her and sealed to this tree,” she said touching the tree.
“The villagers ran to her to help her but her injuries were too severe. She turned to her younger sister and said. ‘I have failed, burn the Shikon no Tama with my remains,’ and she died. The villagers did what she requested and burned it with her remains.” Kagome said.
She sniffled a bit and rubbed her nose. Yasha frowned and glared at the ground. “How could they betray one another if they loved each other so much?” he asked.
“That’s not the end to the story. You see, the half-demon never attacked her. It was another demon. You see he was originally human, but was injured badly and thrown into a small cave. The priestess found him and took care of his wounds. Soon after he became obsessed with her. He would have given anything to have her. His heart turned wicked and the many demons living in the cave possessed him. The demons took over him completely. But they filled out his wish for revenge and separated the two.”
Yasha frowned again and turned away from the tree. “Why did he kill the priestess then, didn’t he love her?”
“Yeah. But the demons who took over his body hated the priestess. Their hatred was too strong for the human to stop.” Kagome said.
She left the tree and sat by Yasha. Yasha rested his arms on his knees and looked down. Kagome touched his shoulder. They sat there for a moment not saying anything. He looked at her.
“I blame the half-demon,” he said.
Kagome looked at him in surprise. “Huh? You mean you think it’s the half-demon’s fault all that happened? Why?” she asked him.
“He shouldn’t have bothered with the priestess. Plus he was the one weak enough to get sealed to a tree.” He said pointing to the tree.
“But you really can’t help who you fall in love with...” Kagome said.
Yasha froze. ‘You can’t help...who you fall in love with...’ he thought to himself. Kagome looked at him worriedly.
“Yasha? Are you alright?” she asked.
He shook his head and nodded. “Yeah, here let me take you home,” he said.
He took her hand and pulled her up. She looked at him. “Did the story upset you?” she asked.
He shook his head. “No, I was just thinking,” he said.
They walked down the shrines steps and started to the nearest bus stop. Kagome kept close to him shivering. He took off his jacket and gave it to her. She thanked him and wrapped it around herself. He head popped up.
“Did you ever go out with another girl?” she asked suddenly.
He looked at her in surprise. “Well yeah...I dated this other girl...”
Kagome leaned in. “...and we broke up,” he ended.
“What happened? Why did you break up?” she asked.
“Things didn’t work out,” he said and ended that.
Kagome looked down again. He looked at her. “Did you go out with anyone?”
“Yeah, once. A guy named Hojo, but he was a little too clueless sometimes so we broke up,” she said.
Yasha made a small noise and they stopped at the bus stop. “Well I told you about how I broke up with my old boyfriend, so you should tell me about yours.” She said.
He paused. “Alright the...I guess it’s fair,” he said slowly. “I went out with a girl named Kikyo, and we went out for a while...One day on her birthday I went to her house to take her out. I let myself in and went to her room. There I found her with another man,” he said.
Kagome covered her mouth. “I-I’m sorry...”
“His name was Onigumo. He was a class mate of mine. He was my rival for her, it looks like he won.” Yasha said quietly.
Kagome said nothing. The bus came and he helped her into it.
@~’~~,~~
Yasha entered the apartment complex and started his long climb to his apartment. ‘Why did I have to tell her about Kikyo...Damn it!’ he thought angrily. He stomped up each step. His mind went back to the day when it happened.
I stepped to the door, holding her present. She gets really iffy if you forget important dates. I found that out the hard way. I checked the box one more time. It was still there. The ring I got her. It wasn’t an engagement ring; it was more a promise ring. We’ve been together for almost three years now, let’s add a ring to make it better. I was grinning, I couldn’t help it. I couldn’t wait to see her face when I came with this. I opened the door and let myself in. Her grandma loved me so she said ‘Come in anytime you want.’
I made my way to her bedroom, grinning. She was going to collage next year; I wasn’t going to let her forget me. She was the most important person in the world to me. Besides I’m only a year younger then her. It’s not like I’m dating a woman 20 years older then me. Besides she’s never cared about my age.
I touched the door knob but I stopped when I heard a noise. It sounded like a groan. A loud one. A male one. My heart froze, no it can’t be. I turned the knob slowly so I could see what was happening with out disturbing them. I peaked in.
“Onigumo...”
“What about the shrimp?”
“Who?”
“Yasha,”
“Oh him, it’s alright. The child won’t bother us,”
I dropped the box. Child...I’m a child to her. But she never cared about my age before. I’m only a year younger then her! I watched the two kiss and moan. I watched his hands roam all over her body. I couldn’t move from the stop where I stood. I felt like a child, a child who caught their parents. I clenched my fists and ran out of the house.
I stopped at a drain pipe and dropped the ring in it.
“Bitch,”
He unclenched his fists as he came to the door. He looked over and saw Naraku asleep in front of his own apartment. Out of curiosity I leaned down and looked at him. He was leaning against the door, his head slightly bent down. His legs were crossed and his hands were on his lap, dangling from his hips. The top few buttons were slightly undone. If I didn’t know him he looks like he got raped. Suddenly his eyes shot open and looked into mine. His empty eye tore into my soul. I backed away.
“Back from your date I see,” he said chuckling.
I glared and turned the key to my door. “Like it’s any your business,” I said.
He snorted but still smiled. “I got locked out of my apartment...Kagura locked me out again,” he said.
‘Like I care,’ He thought. “Really? I’m shocked,” he said sarcastically.
“But I’ll get in,” he said and smiled. “Trust me I will...Kagura will be taken off her high horse,” he muttered softly.
Yasha stopped messing with his key and looked at the slightly crazy man. He turned away quickly and went into his apartment. He closed the door and locked it quickly. He leaned against the door and listened to the crazy laughs. He grabbed his head. ‘God, what a freak! I don’t even know what he’s going to do with her,’
Then he heard a noise. His head popped up and was face to face with Kagura’s. He snarled at her and she glared back.
“Don’t tell him I’m here,” she said.
“Or really? And why shouldn’t I?”
“I know your 18,” she said.
Yasha’s jaw dropped. He glared at her and grabbed her shoulders. “How do you know that?” he hissed out.
She smirked. “I was here when you told him, that other man that was here,” she said.
Yasha’s eyes narrowed. ‘Shit, now she’s going to tell him...’ he thought.
“You can trust me, I hate him too,” she said.
Yasha dropped her and grunted. She sat in front of him and crossed her legs. She messed with her shorter black hair that was held in a small pony tail on top of her head. She messed with her messy school uniform.
“So what are you 17, 18?”
“I’m 16,” she said flatly.
Yasha grunted. “You look older. What school do you go to?”
“I don’t go to school,”
“You skip?” he asked.
“No, I was never signed up,” she said.
He gave her a look. “You’re wearing a uniform,”
“’Father’ says I should wear it,” she said. “To make it look like I go. But actually this is an old uniform from the school that used to be here,” she said.
“There was a school here?”
“Yeah at this spot. But they tore it down when someone lit it on fire. ‘Father’ bought the land here and created these apartments,” she said.
He got up and went to the fridge. He opened it and popped up two beers. He tossed on to her and she thanked him.
“I figured you drink,” he said.
She smirked and nodded. “If it keeps me away from him.” She said.
They drank in silence for a while. Yasha drained his bottle and turned to her again. “What with your little sister?” he asked.
“‘Father’ dyes her hair white. He says it’s pretty. She’s naturally pale,”
“So he dyes her hair?” Yasha asked.
“Yeah, I don’t know why...” Kagura said.
She threw he bottle in the nearby trash can, took his bottle, and threw his away. She then went to his window and started to climb out. He looked at her and gave her a look.
“What are you doing?”
“Going back to my ‘home’” she said. “This is how I always sneak in,” she said and jumped for her window.
Yasha watched her jump away. He smacked his head and closed his window. “I better start locking this...” he muttered.
