Chapter Five
It had been about a month now since Catriona was introduced & since the day she had her talk with Miroku, things hadn't patched up between them. They were now worse & Kagome & Sango both had sinking feelings something bad was going to happen soon. Little did they know, they were both right.
Once again the group had found themselves lingering on the outskirts of Sesshomaru's Western Lands border as they traveled. The only one not really tense about the situation was Catriona since so far the Demon Lord had given her no reason to fear him. When they settled into camp an hour from the border, Catriona excused herself to go look for Inu Yasha who had turned up missing earlier when he went to go take a bath in the river they'd found. When she got to the river, he was still there & was currently sitting on a rock he'd found on the other side in the deep end when he arrived there. His eyes were closed & his head was down & she was unsure if he was okay or if he was hurt somewhere she couldn't see.
She slowly made her way across the river on some stepping stones that had some space between them. "Inu Yasha?" She was now a few feet above him since there was a ledge there that she had walked up after crossing the river.
He looked up at her, a few strings of hair were matted to his face from the water since he'd swam across. "Why are you here?" he asked, wiping some of the hair from his face. "Don't tell me you came here by yourself."
"Okay then I won't tell you," she smiled, laying down on the ground so she wouldn't get a crick in her neck. "What's taking you so long? You've been here for about an hour & a half now..."
"My back hurts from the last 'sit' so I'm relaxing," he answered, lowering his head again.
"Does it help keeping your head down like that?"
"Not one bit," Inu Yasha replied with a sigh before he looked up at her again. "Do you think I deserved the last one?" he asked. He had been eyeing a bug that had been flying around his head & when it landed, he swatted it dead. What he hadn't realized was that he had slapped Kagome's ass in the process.
"You did apologize & explain what had happened so...no I don't think you deserved the last one," she smiled, folding her hands under her chin as she looked ahead over the scenery. "Make a deal with you."
"What kind of deal?"
"Well, back home, before I left, I finished a course in physical therapy in the massage branch. I'll rub out that pain in your back if you let me sit up in the tree with you tonight."
"You can rub out the pain?" he blinked as she looked down at him, nodding. "Alright, you got yourself a deal. Come in the water with me?"
Catriona nodded & walked down the ledge & back across the stepping stones so she could have a place to leave her clothes while she got in the water. She stripped down to her bra & panties, both thankfully black so no water would allow them to be see-through, & waded into the water until it got deeper & she swam over to Inu Yasha. "I'm gonna need you to get up from the rock so I can get behind you."
"You can do this with me sitting up between your legs?"
"Yep. Just back up against me once I sit down." Inu Yasha got up & she sat down, then he got between her legs & shifted so he was comfortable on the rock. When he felt her hand on his back pushing him forward slightly, he let her push him. "Now, where does it hurt the most?"
"In my lower back, the middle of my back."
Catriona sat her hands to work, rubbing along his spine where he had said & she felt the bunched up muscles beneath her fingers. "You've got quite a few knots back here Yasher," she said as she kept rubbing, hearing him moan every now & then.

Catriona looked around the dark forest spot they'd made camp in that day & now she'd found herself lost since she'd needed to be alone. She didn't hear the footsteps behind her until it was too late & an arm had wrapped tightly around her & a hand slapped over her mouth, muffling her screams as she was dragged further into the forest. She didn't catch a glimpse of who she had been struggling against until they turned her around & pushed her up against a tree. Her eyes narrowed as they stared into the violet eyes of Miroku. He brought her hand from her mouth. "What are you doing Miroku?" she questioned, trying to push him away from her, but it was no use & he held her against the tree.
"What do you think I'm doing Cat? I'm making you what you should be, mine," he answered, using his free hand to unzip the skirt she'd put on that afternoon since it had been hot. Once it had fallen to the ground he brought his hand up to unbutton the shirt that concealed her upper area.
Catriona tried to struggle away from him, but it wasn't working & she was scared worse than she could ever remember being scared. She hadn't even been this scared when the demon attacked her before Sesshomaru had saved her. She cried out when he pulled her from the tree then pushed her back against it, the bark digging into her skin. "Miroku stop this now!" she pleaded as he started undoing the front clasps of her bra. Her eyes closed tightly as he took one of her nipples between his teeth, biting down a little too hard.
She would have kneed him between the legs but he had his knees between them to keep such a thing from happening. "I'm going to make you mine whether or not you like it Catriona. You have no idea of just how much I care for you & here you are, pushing me away. It's not one bit fair," he murmured against the skin of her neck where he was now kissing.
Her eyes were still closed tightly when she felt a sudden jerk from her body as the weight of Miroku was pulled off. She opened her eyes to see Sesshomaru standing a few feet away from her with Miroku pressed to a nearby tree by his throat.
"I will not tolerate an act as low as rape being carried out in my territory," Sesshomaru spoke, his voice calm, but the expression in his eyes read anger. Pure anger that he kept at bay to keep his calm appearance. "I'm half-tempted to kill you for trying to perform such an act on my land & because you're traveling with my hanyou brother," he paused a moment, "but if you leave now, get out of my sight withing five seconds, then I'll think of sparing you," he growled, tossing the monk to the ground. Within the five seconds Sesshomaru had promised him, Miroku was still in his sight, but barely, so as a warning, Sesshomaru used his light whip to strike the tree Miroku was running next to, making him run faster with a small yelp of fear. When the monk was out of sight Sesshomaru turned to look at Catriona who had her bra closed & her shirt on & was buttoning it. Her skirt still lay on the ground so he was nice enough to pick it up for her. "First a demon now a travel companion," he mused. "How do you keep getting yourself into these situations?"
"You tell me & we'll both know," she replied as she finished buttoning her shirt. He handed her skirt to her & she took it from him. "Thank you," she said as she wrapped her skirt around her waist & zipped it so it would stay on. "So, why did you save me this time? Was it just because you don't want any rapes to occur on your land or did you want to save me?"
He looked at her for a moment before a small smile found its way to his lips & he moved closer to her, bringing a clawed hand to her cheek, claws brushing against her skin. "It was a mixture of both. I saved you because you show no fear to me, like my adopted child. And I wish for no act to be performed in my lands."
"You adopted a child? Why?"
"When we met, she found me wounded in the woods. She couldn't talk at the time, but now she speaks fluently to me & my servant, Jaken. Though she's seen me do many bad murderous things to demons who I catch in my lands or those who cross my path, she still shows undying trust towards me. Rin may be a human, but she's still a blessing to have around."
Catriona smiled & brought her hand up to his own that was still on her cheek & removed it, looking at the claws that could easily kill her should he desire to. "These are so sharp, so deadly & yet, you're so gentle with them," she spoke, letting his hand go as he brought it to rest at his side. "You must show your brother a different side. All he does is tell stories of bad things, when you show me a completely different side when we see each other."
"As I have said, you show me no fear & you do not provoke me to attack or harm you. Unlike Inu Yasha who has a death wish when we cross paths." Sesshomaru looked at her & realized she was touching his armor, trailing her fingertips over it. "May I ask why you're doing that?"
"In my time, no one really wears this stuff."
"Your time? Do you come from Kagome's time?"
Catriona nodded. "Haven't you noticed the difference of my clothes from the women of this time? I'm actually from a different country also, but I was visiting her country. I'm here for four more months then it'll be time for me to return home to my country & I probably won't see her again for a long time."
"Ah, I see." His head snapped up & his pupils narrowed slightly, his facial expression not changing as his ears went back. "My dear brother's on his way, most likely having been fed lies by the monk. We shall meet again Catriona," he purred before he left in a blur of white & silver.
Catriona smiled to herself as Inu Yasha came to stand at her side, Tetsusaiga drawn. "Don't bother looking for him Yasha, he's gone," she smiled as she moved away from the tree & ran her fingers through her hair, dragging out a couple small pieces of bark. "And no he didn't hurt me, I'm fine."
Inu Yasha blinked a few times before he followed her. "But I smell him on you & Miroku said he was trying to harm you."
"Miroku lied Yash. He's the one who was trying to hurt me & Sesshomaru saved me from him," she giggled, a slight blush creeping to her cheeks as she thought about the purr in his tone before he'd left.
