Chapter Fourteen
Catriona had her eyes closed tight, ready to be sucked into his void when she'd felt something wrap around her waist & pull her away from the suction. She opened her eyes when she felt arms snake around her waist & a pair of soft lips press a kiss to her forehead. "Sesshomaru," she whimpered, hugging him close & burying her face in his chest.
"It's alright Catriona, I'm here," he purred, resting his chin on the top of her head. "Why was he trying to kill you?"
"I hurt him."
"Where?" he asked then his eyes widened only slightly as a small chuckle escaped his lips as she nudged him. "Oh, there. Why did you do that though? I was watching but couldn't see & hear exactly everything."
"He was being a dick so I told him in a not so nice way that demons & hanyous are better than humans so he slapped me. He deserved to be hurt there."
Sesshomaru asked no more questions as he pulled back slightly to have her look up at him & when she did, he pressed his lips to hers, closing his eyes as she closed her own. He rubbed her back as he deepened the kiss, then broke it when he felt something wet touch his cheek. He looked at her & saw she had tears slowly trailing down her cheeks. He brought his hand to his cheek & wiped away the tear. "Catriona, why do you cry?" he asked, concern in his voice as he ran his fingers through her hair, holding her against him as she rested her head on his chest.
"Sesshomaru, my mother & father killed each other & now I have to go back to my time & my home across the seas, like I told you to make sure my brother is okay. I don't know when I'll be back & I really don't want to leave you but he needs me & I know you couldn't live in my time," she said quick, but he still got it as she began crying against his chest.
"I'll be here if you can ever come back Catriona... I'll wait as long as it takes," he said softly. "And even if you don't come back, if I make it to your time, I'll find you."
"But Sess, I want to stay with you or have you with me... It could take forever for us to see each other again & I don't know how much longer until I can come back here," she whimpered, gripping his kimono top. "Sess, I don't want to be without you for that long."
"I don't want to be without you either, but unless you want me to try & live in your time, I suggest we both wait. They say absence only makes the heart grow fonder & we will see just how much more I can love you," he smiled, bringing a small smile from her. "Now how about we go ahead & get you back to the village so you can go huh? I'll stay by you & walk you to the well if you'd like."
"Would you really do that for me?"
"Of course Catriona."

Catriona, Sesshomaru, Inu Yasha, & Kagome made their way to the well. While they walked, Sesshomaru carried Catriona on his back &she was careful not to tug on his hair. Kagome was on Inu Yasha's back, doing the same & neither guy complained about it. "It was nice getting to know you," Inu Yasha said as he looked over at Catriona. "I'm just sorry you have to go so soon & under these circumstances."
"It's okay Inu Yasha & it was nice getting to know you too," she gave him a small smile before she nuzzled her face into Sesshomaru's hair, inhaling his scent before they arrived at the well & she was let off his back, along with Kagome from Inu Yasha's back. "Thank you for coming here to see me off Sesshomaru," she smiled slightly.
"Thank you for saving my life," she spoke, taking in the features of the demon before her.
"I was not saving you as a favor," replied a cold, emotionless voice. "I was keeping your blood from being shed on my land. I am the youkai Lord Sesshomaru & I am the ruler of these Western lands."
"My name is Catriona Delaney & I have no clue where I am right now," she replied, looking at his moon marking & the markings on his cheeks.
Sesshomaru noticed she showed no fear to him & decided to investigate to find out why. "I noticed you show no fear toward me... Why is that?" he questioned, moving closer to her.
"What have you done for me to fear you? You've given me no reason to fear you," she answered, leaning against the tree after using her foot to nudge away the dead demon body. "Maybe if you give me something to fear, I'd actually show you fear. How did you kill the demon? Without cutting me?"
Without verbally answering her, Sesshomaru used his light whip to cut a nearby tree in the middle. "I can control what gets cut & what doesn't."
"I see. Did you say your name was Sesshomaru?" When he nodded, she spoke again. "You're the one Inu Yasha told me about... But you don't seem to be as bad as he told me you are."
Catriona bit her lip to fight back her tears as she thought of when they first met & she felt a jab of sad pain take hold of her heart & tears began to fill in behind her eyes.
"Wow, are you sure you want to go through the pain of getting a tattoo?" Kagome asked Catriona as the girls, along with Mrs. Higurashi walked into the tattoo parlor they'd seen earlier that day before they had lunch. Now that lunch was over with, here they were. "I heard it really hurts."
"I heard so too," Catriona smiled as she looked at the designs on the wall until she found what she was looking for. When she did, she smiled at Kagome. "But hey, I want some souvenir from here that I can't lose in my room somewhere," she giggled.
"Which one are you going to get?" Kagome asked, looking at the different tattoos that were held in one case.
"That one," Catriona said as she pointed to a purple crescent moon with a magenta star between the spaces of the moon's two points. "I think it'd be perfect to get it on my back."
"Your back?! Gods Catriona, are you crazy?!"
All Catriona could do at this point was laugh at her friend's reaction. "Yes. Who said someone has to see it? I'm not getting it as a show-off thing, I'm getting it for me to know I have."
Sesshomaru noticed the far off look in Catriona's eyes & waved his hand infront of her face, bringing her back to them. "What were you thinking of Catriona?" he asked, but instead of answering, he let out a small grunt of surprise as she pushed herself against him, whimpering as tears flowed down her cheeks. "Catriona?"
"I'm going to miss you Sesshomaru," she finally cried out as more tears fell & he wrapped his arms around her to bring her closer.
He gave his brother & Kagome a slightly annoyed look that made them leave Catriona & himself alone. "Catriona," he said, sitting on the edge of the well with her in his lap. "I'm going to miss you too, but remember, we will see each other again. If not soon, then in the future when I come to you. And I will come to you."
"But what if you-" she was cut off by his lips crashing onto her own & she found herself wrapping her arms around his neck & shifting a bit so she was now straddling him, her knees resting on the well ledge. She closed her eyes & deepened the kiss, running her fingers through his hair, then stopping to rub behind his ears.
He moaned into the kiss & lightly thrust his hips up to meet hers; she'd found his spot. Catriona, there's something different about you, he thought to himself as he placed his hands on her hips. But what is it? What is so different about you today, then the last time we met? He slowly broke the kiss to look into her eyes. "You have to go now Catriona, but I promise you, we will meet again..." She nodded & got off of him allowing him to stand. "Inu Yasha, Kagome, you both can return now," he announced before two figures emerged from the bushes. "We've said our goodbyes & she's ready to go."
"Alright," Kagome said as she climbed onto the ledge of the well.
"Wait a sec," Inu Yasha said as he stepped up to Catriona & hugged her tightly. "I can't wait to see you again sometime Cat... You're pretty cool considering what time you come from," he grinned as a tease.
Catriona smiled & pulled away & was soon being hugged by Sesshomaru. "Goodbye Sess," she whispered into his ear. "I love you."
"I love you too," he whispered into her ear before he kissed her cheek & let go of her to see the tears in her eyes. He watched her climb onto the ledge to stand beside Kagome before both girls jumped into the well. He closed his eyes & left his brother to stand alone. Probably waiting for Kagome to come back, he thought to himself as he made his return to his castle.
