Chapter Six
That night as Catriona sat next to Inu Yasha on the same fallen tree they had before, she watched him as he let his head fall back as he emitted a long, loud howl that seemed to roll over the lands. She'd never heard a howl like this before; the kind that carried over the lands & echoed through the night. She shivered in the cold night air as a howl responded to Inu Yasha's; the volume equal to the hanyou's. She watched as Inu Yasha's ears perked to the sound & he listened to it as it faded.
He let out another howl, this one shorter than the last & took a few small breaths, waiting for another reply. When he heard it, he rose to his feet. "Come on Cat," he said as he put his back to her, standing between her legs. "Get on & hold on tight. I'm going to be in the air most of the time & I'm going to be going as fast as I can."
She got on his back & held on as he took off, heading in the direction she could have sworn the howl was coming from. She buried her face into the back of the hanyou, having never liked heights. As he sped over the land, the wind ruffled his outfit & hair. By the time they'd reached their destination, she'd fallen asleep on the hanyou's back, but her hold remained strong.
He grinned slightly & wrapped his arms under the backs of her knees to support her as he approached the castle belonging to his brother. He walked up the steps & knocked on the door after removing one arm from under her leg, putting his arm back before the leg fell. The door opened & he looked down to see Rin, Sesshomaru's human, smiling up at him. "Rin, where is my brother?" he asked.
"Papa Sesshomaru is in his bed chamber," Rin answered, pulling the large door all the way open to allow Inu Yasha to enter, which he did. "He said to take you up there," she smiled as she shut the door.
In Sesshomaru's bedchamber, the youkai lord himself, sat in a chair by a fireplace that held a well going fire, staring out the window with his usual bored expression. "Sesshomaru," Inu Yasha said, looking at his brother as Rin shut the door behind him.
Sesshomaru rose to his feet & walked to his brother. "She fell asleep I see," he murmured. "Would you like me to take her off of your back?" When his brother nodded, he took the girl from his back & held her in his arms as he walked to his bed, laying her down on the under sheet before pulling the blanket over her. "Are you going to leave her here or did you wish to stay the night & leave in the afternoon with her?" he asked, not looking up at his brother as he ran his fingers through Catriona's long hair, not caring if his brother saw this display of affection. He had, after all, seen his aura of sadness & mourning; why should this be different?
Inu Yasha thought a moment as he watched his old half brother. "I can't keep her away for too long without explanation... I have to go back to the village tonight, but tomorrow I'll be coming for her," he finally answered & received a small, dismissing wave from Sesshomaru.
Once his brother was gone from his chamber & the castle, he leaned down & kissed her forehead softly, causing her to stir. When her eyes opened, his own eyes welcomed hers as he let a small smile curve his lips. "Welcome home, my dear Catriona," he purred softly, taking her hand in his.
"Sesshomaru?" she questioned softly. "Why have you waited for me? I am nothing worth the wait."
"Oh but you are to me," he whispered as he rose to his feet. "Would you like me to join you in the bed or would you prefer me to sleep in another room?"
"Please Sess, stay with me? I've missed you too much to have you be here, only to have you go again. Please disrobe & stay with me?" she begged verbally & with her eyes that were now tearing up.
He nodded & disrobed until he was down to nothing & slid under the blanket to be with her. He watched as he undressed under the covers, letting her clothes slip out from under the covers to fall to the floor below, before she moved closer to him, allowing him to wrap his arms around her. "I've missed you Catriona & no matter what you think of yourself, you are more than worth the wait for me. I haven't taken bed with another since I lost you to your parents' death; not wanting to be dishonest to you in any possible way," he spoke, love dripping from every word as he stared into her deep brown eyes. "You mean too much for me to want to lose," he whispered the last part before their lips met in a soft kiss.
She brought her hand to his chest, resting it there as the kiss grew deeper & more intimate; his arm drew back only slightly so that his hand would be permitted to move. He brought his hand to her breast, lightly brushing her nipple with his thumb, bringing a soft moan to her throat as the nipple became erect from his touch. "Sess," she whimpered softly into the kiss.

Catriona awoke when she felt long, clawed fingers running through her hair & heard a soft humming noise that belonged to a deep voice. She smiled as she thought about the night that had made her sleep so well & she looked up to meet the eyes of her lover, her everything, her Sesshomaru. "Morning," he softly spoke to her, kissing her forehead. "Finally awoke from your deep slumber," he smiled.
"Sess," she sighed, looking down at his chest, "there is something I have to tell you. Something very important that I forgot to mention last night because of the events going on. I wanted to make sure it wasn't a dream before I said anything."
"Now that you know I'm not some dream character," he smiled slightly, "tell me... What is it my love?"
She took in a shaky breath & exhaled it, just as shaky. "Sesshomaru? You... You have a son. From when we first mated, three years ago." She saw the look on his face & she wasn't sure if she should be scared or...what. She swallowed the lump that was quickly growing in her throat. "Sess, he learns so quick & he's already training with Yasha. He runs as fast as Yasha & he looks like you so, so much. The only difference is the ears & his hair. It's red like mine, but when he's angry or his youkai is trying to take over, it goes silvery-white like yours." She bit her lip, wishing he would say something to her; anything would be better than this nothing he was dealing her at the moment. "Sess?"
He said nothing but instead, he slid down from his half-sitting position & wrapped his arms around her, nuzzling his face into the crook between her neck & shoulder. "You've given me an heir that I have yet to meet & yet... I don't care that he is a hanyou or that my brother is training him. All I care about is that he came from our love... When can I meet him Catriona? Does he even want to see me since I've never been there for him through his life?"
Catriona smiled, her eyes lighting up. He's okay with Isamu... Oh how much greater could he get than this? She thought to herself. "Actually Sess, he does want to see you. It was his idea that I come back & have my brother watch over the house & family business for us while we're gone," she answered. "If it hadn't been for him, we wouldn't have come here at all," she giggled at the look on his face. "What is that look about?"
"You mean to tell me that my son had everything to do with your coming back through that well? It was his idea? My son?"
Catriona nodded with a wide smile. "He's a fast learner? If I didn't know any better, I'd say he's got the brains of his father, but the body of a hanyou..."

It wasn't until that night that Inu Yasha actually came to get Catriona & then, he had Isamu with him. But instead of the boy being on his back, he was at his uncle's side, mimicking his movements as they arrived. When they were shown into the dining room where Catriona was sitting with Sesshomaru, Isamu stayed in the doorway, staring at his father. While Inu Yasha took a seat next to Catriona, she waved for her son to come close, which he did; but stopped at his mother's side, still staring.
"Is that him mom?" he asked, looking up at her as he broke his gaze from his father. "Is that my father? The great youkai Lord?" He glanced at Sesshomaru in time to watch him rise to his full height, a giant that towered over his own small frame.
"Yes Isamu, that's him," she smiled slightly, glancing to Sesshomaru's face to see the pleased look at the name she'd given their son. "That's your father, the great youkai Lord Sesshomaru, ruler of the Western Lands."
Isamu moved to his father who stood only a few feet away & looked up at him with wide, amazed eyes that took in his frame. "Mom didn't tell me you had this much power in your appearance," he finally said, bringing a smile from his father. "You're even grander than in my imagination..."
Sesshomaru smiled slightly down at his son & kneeled down, looking the boy over. "Your mother was right about our appearance similarities & differences. I didn't think she could be so correct, but she was. So you are three, correct?" Isamu nodded. "Have you discovered your youkai powers yet?"
Isamu grinned wickedly. "Of course. I use them to torment my Uncle Joshua Alan ever chance I get." This earned an amused chuckle from his father & uncle, & a grin from his mother. "Are you going to come back with to the village or can we stay here with you until it's time for us to go back to our time?"
"I wouldn't be welcomed at the village," he frowned. "And it would be up to your mother where you both stayed during your visit," he said, eyeing Catriona who raised a brow. "Is something the matter?" he asked, Isamu looking at his mother.
"I think we need to think about this over night, then get back to you on it. Would that be okay with you both?" She asked, looking at them both. It was then that she noticed the look in Isamu's eyes; the same look he got when he sensed something dangerous. "Isamu?"
The boy's ears went back & the white was starting to show in his hair as he stared at the closed doors. He only calmed when it was only Jaken that walked in & grinned when he saw the panicked look Jaken gave him. "Hello again, toad," he sneered. Jaken reeked of human blood & smoke. Burning flesh was mixed in somewhere.
"Lord Sesshomaru, what are these people doing here?" Jaken asked, looking at everyone, then to his master.
"Jaken, where's Rin?" Sesshomaru asked.
"She's in the garden."
"And you're not watching her?" he growled.
"Father Sesshomaru, do you want me to go watch her? I've heard lots about her from mom & I'd love to meet her," Isamu said, stepping in.
