It's a bird...it's a plane...it's SUPERBED!!!
For over three years I haven't slept in a bed because I could never find what I wanted.  All the beds were too big and I felt like it was a waste of space.  A few weeks ago I started getting the spring cleaning bug and I decided to build my own bed just the way I wanted.  After looking up some plans on the internet and walking around the hardware store not knowing exactly what to buy, I decided to design my own.  A few Wednesdays ago in a flash of inspiration I designed the bed, drew up the plans, and figured out exactly what I needed to buy. Two days later it was built.
Here is our fabulous work crew.  Me, Becky, Laura, Mark, and Tom.  Minus Jen Barger who left early.
We worked at Tom's house and used his tools.  The whole bed cost only $80 and took 5-2x4s, 5-2x2s, 1 Box 2in screws, 1 Box 1and1/3in screws, one sheet of 4x8 Oak plywood, three hinges and five hours of work to put together..
And here it is!!! The finished bed. 6.5 x 2.5 feet of sleeping space.  Perfect for me!
It opens up for storage space.  In my 9x9 ft. room that is important.
There is no back because it sits against the wall under the window.  It is a window seat, chest, sofa, day bed.  I wonder what I should call it and if I should sell them.
Rob Cashell came with his truck and we took it to my apartment that night but we couldn't fit it into my room.  But we took the arms off and got it in the next day.  With my thermarest camping mattress and my queen-sized featherbed folded in half on top of that it sleeps pretty nice and it saves a lot of space in my room.
