Mt. Pleasant Memories

Yes, perhaps it was scandalous.
I knew. You knew. We knew.
You'd say something to me
and give me that extra
long look. I knew.

Brushing up beside me
your hand in mine momentarily,
our surrounding company oblivious,
but you knew.

And when we were finally alone,
the intimate separation
the excitement of knowing
what had happened between us
only hours earlier (what a rush!)
was slowly faded out in one way,
but not in another.

Pieces

Torn into pieces,
scattered away,
the decisions I need to make.

Gathering myself up,
slowly looking at what's on deck,
I take a moment of personal peace.

I know I have won,
I think of you
and put your puzzle piece
in my panoramic heart.

Relationship Rationale

You think I'm not paying attention,
that I don't really care
lazier-faire.
Maybe you're right,
but I know what I am doing
and what you are thinking.
Some things are arranged, predetermined,
a sort of (manifest) destiny.

It's not that I don't care,
I truly do.
Remember always, its me – not you.

Before the cardboard

Here I am at a standstill,
the last page of this pad of paper,
trying to convey some sort
of thought provoking poem
that will leave you reflecting
on what I wrote and how it
some how relates to your so called life.
And sometimes we are on different pages,
separated by blue lines, divided by parameters
and manufacturers specifications.

Here we are though.
Perhaps at an ending, but I will
never forget the memories
we created. Thank you for your patronage.

Today's outdoor library

I look next to the big blue dumpster
and see a small box
of books thrown away.
I pick up a New Testament, written in Chinese.
Next to that, War and Peace.
Emerson's thoughts and essays lay near-by ,
rippled by last nights rain.

At least someone had enough respect
not to throw them away…but aside.
Mt. Pleasant is where the University of Central Michigan is.....I was only there once, but it was well worth it.
This one is a true story.
