I woke up after seeing the get up kids, and loving them very much, and went to the mall, in which I found my rad checkerboard shoes and #964 maladroit. Me and Holly gathered our stuff to go over to DTE at 4pm. When we got there, there were already a lot of people there. We were all listening to weezer’s soundcheck, in which we heard pink triangle. It was pretty cool talking to them all. I met a bunch of message board people. One girl I knew, she won the fooseball tournament by lipsticking her car with =w= symbols and showing the radio station there the pics. I was going back and forth between parking lots, waiting for the guestlist to come in. On the way back one time, that girl came up to me and said “You know all that stuff about Rivers being a jerk? It’s true” and she told me that the games were suppose to be a tournament, but Rivers and Pat won all three games, so Pat suggested they could play another, but Rivers just said “No, we have to go” and left.

So then, around 6pm (when the doors open) we traveled back to the will call window and they still hadn’t received the tickets. We saw two older guys walk up and say they were on the guestlist for Scott Shriner. I turned around and when they were free, I asked if they knew Scott. And they had, they grew up with him in Toledo and were two really good friends. They told me how he got into bass, they said he tried trumpet first on his own, but he switched to bass when he was 15 and loved it, mostly because he had an excellent teacher. And back then they’d listen to all the bands popular in the 70s and 60s. He said they remember all going to a U2 concert together and that rocked. Then they started talking about the messageboards, they check them a lot. They said they hated how everyone was ragging on scott when he first joined the band,  but they thought that Scott Defending Army was really funny. And they thought that the message board people could be so cruel to each other. He remembered my name from the boards, because they saw my weezer tailgate message, and he asked about that and then they laughed cause I told them I made a scott cookie. They said they’d tell scott about it. They were about to call him on their cell phone to tell him they were there, because they got VIP passes, but then our tickets came in, so we said farewell and got in line.

They allowed cameras, I was mad about that, because I left mine at home. But Holly had hers. We stopped at the emptiest merchandise booth, and I bought the soccer shirt and the black tour shirt. We then went to find our seats, which ended up being straight center, 7th row, not bad at all.

We heard Sparta and Dashboard, Sparta had some good songs, but I hated Dashboard, a lot more than I thought I’d hate them. Maybe it was because all the fans seemed to be 15 year old girls screaming out “Chris you’re so hot!” ack.

The girls sitting next to me had no idea who any of these musicians were (counting weezer) they seemed annoyed to be there. They just came so they could say they were there…I wanted to hurt them. Then the guy on our other side was a really fun nice guy, who went away for about 10 minutes and came back so drunk he thought he knew us really well. I kept on trying to push him away half the concert cause he kept trying to get behind us and put his arms around us, arg, he annoyed me so much.

Weezer was so awesome. So very very awesome. We got 6 Pinkerton songs, including butterfly and pink triangle. I loved it. The pyro was awesome; we were close enough to feel a heat wave every time it came out. I loved it when they raised Pat and brought out the huge =w=. He did lok scared to come down before the encore, but he made it, and gave us the rock sign to assure that he didn’t die. Pat’s so cool.

Afterwards, another guestlist girl asked the security guard before the show, and told me where to go afterwards, and we got there and they told us 4 to wait on the side. Then finally some huge bouncer dude came up and said we could go in. We went down, having no idea what we were going to, we went down some stairs, around some corners and we were backstage. Here was a deck with some lights and picnic tables and drinks and then it led to inside a half outdoors hallway with little rooms connected to it. I walked in and Scott’s friends recognized me and told me to come over and show them what I bought and we talked about the show for a while. Then Scott just walked in.. I shook his hand and asked him to sign my shirts, he was sooooooo tall. Scott sat down at the table and me and the other guestlist people were just sitting off to the side, wondering what were waiting for. Then Sheeny showed up and called out our names and gathered us up to led us to the first room by the hall way, we walked in, facing Pat in front of a fooseball table, on the other side was Rivers. It was definetly odd… just walking into a room with this guy I spend so much time talking about. We first shook pat’s hand and told him our name, then shook hands with Rivers, he nodded and said Hi to us all. Then we were standing there in front of them while they played, not exactly sure what we were suppose to say or do…then finally Pat started talking and asked us about the show and such.  Then we were silent for about another minute, and Rivers flipped around and left the room really fast, midgame. Pat mumbled something about being watched, but I wasn’t sure what he said. Hmm.

Within  seconds, Sheeny showed up and said “Oh have you guys met Karl yet?” and we haven’t, so she took us through some halls, we got to look out of the stage, we passed Sparta coming out of their dressing room, and then to a room where sheeny waked in and said “Hey Karl, Want to meet some people?” (btw sheeny is really awesome, she’s all peppy and fun, but not in the annoying way)  I peeked my head into the door and there was Karl, in front of his laptop. Where else? He stood up (he is Tall) and came to say hi to us and we talked about .com and how much time he spends on it. Then he showed us his computer, and he showed us the pictures from the night before because someone wanted to know what asschun looked like. Karl was so rad, he was just how I imagined him. He had empty pop cans spread about and food in tinfoil and such…he was so cool. I took his picture and probably freaked him out with the flash. "Hey karl!" *snap* haha..

Then we were led back to the deck, scott and brian were there, Brian was really really pretty upclose.  But we didn’t really get to meet him because at all times he was surrounded by women, I’m not surprised, and he seemed pretty happy, so I wasn’t about to push my way through them.

Then we went over to watch the random roadies and dashboard play craps, Pat joined for a little bit, then Scott came up and asked why we weren’t playing, we told him we had no money, so he pulled dollars out of his pocket and gave it to us. Haha he’s so nice.

We talked to the folks from AM Radio a while too, they were really funny.

Then some girl came up and informed me that my friend was waiting for me (she’d been kicked out of the place because it was late) and since it was about time to go, I said farewell and left. The other 3 people there were rcb members (acemcbanon never showed), who later said they were going to tease me on the boards cause they have to since I’m a .commer, (we kept making fun of how that is, but it’s how it is, even sheeny commented on how cruel the boards were) But they were all really nice there, though the girl was such a teeny, it kind if annoyed me.

I later found out that Holly, while waiting, got kissed by that drunken guy that was sitting next to her. She didn’t mind though, I would have kicked his ass. =-)

She kept asking me what happened, I was just kind of in this state where I kept replaying the events over in my head, so I amazingly enough didn’t feel like telling anyone that I just met weezer. I did eventually though, and holly didn’t mind because I got her shirt signed by scott.

It was so weird, but so cool. =-)
