The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
System:  Super Nintendo.  Later rereleased for Game Boy Advance.
Story: There were many who sought the sacred wish-granted Triforce, which was left as a symbol of the power of the Goddess of Power, the Goddess of Wisdom, and the Goddess of Courage after the creation of Hyrule.  Until one day a gang of thieves, led by Ganondorf Dragmire, who were skilled in the arts of black magic, were able to enter the Golden Land, where the Triforce dwelled.  Killing whoever would get in his way, and by his greed even his own followers, Ganon made his was to the Triforce and made his wish.  Although none knew what that wish was, terrible things started happening in Hyrule.  Dark clouds permanently filled the skies and men began to leave Hyrule for the Golden Land to join Ganon's armies.  The seven wise men then forged the Master Sword, which was known as the sword of evil's bane, and could only be wielded by one who was pure of heart.  The castle of Hyrule was then attacked by Ganon's army; this was the start of the Imprisoning War.  Once these armies had been defeated, but with the loss of many Hylian soldiers, the seven wise men sealed the way to the Golden Land.  Centuries later, when the tales of the Triforce and the Imprisoning War had been forgotten by most, more terrible things began happening in Hyrule, such as the drought and disease that filled the land.  The king of Hyrule commanded that the Golden Land be investigated.  But the Dark World (or Golden Land) was still closed by the wise men's seal.  But one day a stranger came and put an end to the epidemic and drought.  His name was Agahnim.  The king made him his advisor for what he had done, and the land of Hyrule was thought to be at Peace again.  But rumors were spreading that Agahnim was ruling Hyrule and that there was strange magic coming from the castle at night.  One night a young boy name Link was telepathically called by a girl named Zelda pleading for him to come and save her.  This is where Link's quest begins.
