The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask
System:  Nintendo 64.  Later released on Gamecube in The Legend of Zelda: Collector's Edition.
Story:  Link is traveling deep into the forest, searching for a long lost friend, when two fairies fly out of no where, frightening Epona, causing Link to fall off and be knocked out cold.  A mischievous Skull Kid emerges out of the thick fog, fashioning a mask with terrible power.  He takes Link's ocarina, but is startled when he sees that Link is back on his feet.  The Skull Kid leaps on Epona and dashes off, with Link in hot pursuit.  When Link catches up, the Skull Kid transforms Link into a helpless Deku scrub.  Link continues to chase after the Skull Kid, with his new companion, Tat'l, one of the fairies that spooked Epona, but then was betrayed by the Skull Kid.  Finally Link ends up in a mysterious clock tower, where a creepy mask salesman awaits him.  The mask salesman begs Link to retrieve the mask the Skull Kid had, Majora's Mask, and bring it back to him in three days, or else there will be terrible consequences.  And indeed there are.  Link quickly discovers that terrible monsters all over Termania have awoken... and that the moon is falling...
Comments:  Majora's Mask is an exciting game that will have you playing for days on end.  The innovative masks that grant Link special powers make this game especially unique.  There are many side quests for you to complete, as well as the main plot, and the time limit of three days just makes it all the more exciting.  Not unusal for a Zelda game, it picked up a ton of awards at 2000 Nintendo Power Awards:  Best Overall Game, Best Story, Most Innovative, Best Music, Best Sound, Best Game Play Variety, Best Adventure Game, Coolest Weapon/Power Up/Move (Fierce Diety Mask), Best New Villian (Majora's Wrath), and Strangest New Character (Tingle).  It's an awesome game, and if you love a good adventure game, this is a great pick.
