The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
System: Nintendo 64.  Later released along with The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Master Quest and later on The Legend of Zelda?: Collector's Edition, both for Gamecube.
Story:  As a young Kokiri with a head swimming of premonitions, Link is summoned by the Great Deku Tree, and is asked to revive the dying land of Hyrule with the help of Princess Zelda.  But when the king of evil, Ganondorf, sets his sights on Zelda, she quickly has to flee and leave Link with nothing but an ocarina and three mystic stones.  These seemingly useless objects allow Link to open a sacred chamber and unleash the sword of evil's bane, the Master Sword.  But Link suddenly awakes seven years later to find Hyrule in termoil.  Link, with the help of Navi, his trusty fairy, and Shiek, his mysterious new friend, must use the Triforce of Courage to defeat Ganondorf and restore Hyrule.
Comments:  Ahh... what a great game... and I'm not the only one who thinks so.  It was proclaimed as the game of the year by the Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences, and won several awards in the 1998 Nintendo Power Awards, such as best story, best graphics, best music, best sound, most innovative, best game play variety, best cinema scenes, best adventure game, best N64 game, best release of 1998, and unfortunatly, most annoying dance(but Darunia's an awesome dancer!!!), and many other awards from other sources.  I have yet to play a game I enjoy more than this, but perhaps that's because it was such a fun part of my childhood...  Rated best game ever by moi.
