The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker
System: Nintendo Gamecube
Story:  When a young boy named Link and his little sister, Aryll, are surprised to look up one day (Link's birthday, to be more precise) and see a monsterous bird holding a young girl in its talons, and a pirate ship down below chasing after it.  The pirates finally manage to strike the bird with their cannons, but as it falls, it drops the young girl into a forbidden forest on Link's island.  After a bit of training, Link rushes into the forest and finds the girl.  As they exit, Link is happy to see Aryll waiting for him across the bridge.  She rushes over to greet him, but the giant bird swoops down and snatches her up, flying off, leaving Link clueless to her whereabouts.  As requested by Link, the pirates reluctantly agree to take him aboard their ship and help him find his sister.  But Link's quest gets more and more complicated, as many surprises are revealed...
Comments:  If you're one of those morons who refuses to believe that this could possibly be a good game, because it has cel-shaded graphics, then you're missing out(and for no reason at all, really).  The cel-shaded graphics don't take away anything from the game, but rather add to the beauty and magic of it.  The plot is pretty good, and had me really excited from a lot of the things that came from my favorite game of all time, the Ocarina of Time.  The gameplay is fun, although not too challenging...  The sailing adds a lot to this game, and I enjoy it, but you won't if you don't have a whole lot of patience.  The music is awesome, but a lot of it are remixes of old Zelda music.  The fighting is awesome, and so are the enemies, especially the bosses, but as I said before, not too challenging.  The Wind Waker kicked butt in the 2003 Nintendo Power Awards:  Best Overall Game of 2003, Game of the Year -- Nintendo Gamecube, Best Graphics -- Nintendo Gamecube, Best Original Music -- Nintendo Gamecube, Best Connectivity, Best Adventure/Platformer, the Guilty Pleasure (throwing pigs into the water... that's so much fun...), Best New Character (Aryll), Best Villian (Ganondorf), and the Greatest Challenge (clearing the 100-level dungeon... I'm not sure what that's all about...).  Yep.  It rocks.
