Hi You might not know me but I have been living in this school for 3 years, a period all of you couldn't have spent.
This school is a fascinating place, and I feel gratitude to anyone who have led you guys to this great place.
You people have 1 or 2 years left, I guess. I know it's fun to play games, avoiding from teachers, and watch soap operas for hours.
But you must remind yourselves that a year or two isn't a long time - you guys have not much left to enjoy your life here and make memorable memories.
After 3 years in this school, I now think 'What have I done for 3 years in this school?'
I hope you people bring up extraordinary answers for such a question in your senior years.
My NAME
Various factors have enhanced human society.
However, language, or the scrutiny of words, is one of the most influential element that has spurred the development of human soecity.
Identifying ourselves by names, I think has supported a great deal in the advanecement.
I would like to introduce and explian briefly aoubt my name, a word that contains qualities and potentials that can contribute to the society.
Most of Korean people make their name by matching up the meanings the each letter maintains. Basically, the last name does not consist of a special meaning, and therefore the actual invention of names our considered in the other two letters of the first name. Unfortunately, or maybe uniquely, my name¡¯s inventor – my grandfather, matched up two irrelevant words which made Dong(µ¿ÔÔ) and Kyu(±Ô – the Chinese word doesn¡¯t exist in the computer) together. ¡®Dong¡¯ means ¡®the East¡¯ and ¡®Kyu¡¯ means ¡®a hoe¡¯. Thus, till recent days, I haven¡¯t known its profundity. If you analyze it more carefully, ¡®East¡¯ means the start of the morning, and ¡®a hoe¡¯ has an abstract meaning of farming. If these two definitions are combined rationally, it means a diligent man. It is because the east stands for the every first thing, and hoe stands for farming, and therefore, it could be translated to this kind of form, ¡°A person who is diligent just like a farmer who always starts his work at the very first period of the day¡±. Frankly speaking, I figured out the meaning and told my grandfather and he actually said that that was the actual meaning he thought of. I first thought that it was just some kind of a joke to please me, but my parents said that it was correct. Although it may sound unfamiliar, I still think of it confidently, and I have no doubt that my name is no bad than any other names existing in the genealogy.
I have a weird jinx, which is that I am an excellent writer except my name. It is always awkwardly written which I think isn¡¯t a welcoming circumstance. However, I don¡¯t have any other feelings in my name but the self-esteem I have in myself when out in the society where I have to depict myself as a member of it.
The quality of having a name that identifies yourself in a way I think contains its value in leaving the name in the history. Not only my name includes the effort of my parents for making it, but also the impression of my family, and myself, and therefore, I would like to declare my existence to the world and the history on the premise that I believe and have faith in my name.
