These Are A Few Of My Favorite Things
Slightly Rough My friend Rob Booth's personal site and my first web destination every workday morning. Rob and I served together at the Defense Threat Reduction Agency as Russian interpreters, and I don't know a more sincerely patriotic, politically active person. Plus, you just gotta' love a guy who thinks my daughter is adorable! Lt Smash The Instapundit, who on-the-sly served as a US Navy reservist during the main part of the US incursion into Eye-Rack. Baltimore CityPaper Local city rag. Isn't there one of these in every city? I know the one in DC, New Orleans, Austin and San Antonio are nearly identical in format, at least their printed versions are. |
Washington Post Gotta' keep up with that news from home Baltimore Sun More news from home Baton Rouge Advocate Yet another hometown newspaper (yes, I am from everywhere) CNN You're a blithering idiot if I have to explain this one to you |

Metro Tango Alumni site for the 6611th Electronic Security Squadron, where I spent my 3 years in Germany. DTRA Defense Threat Reduction Agency, where I spent the last 6 years of my Air Force Career. Johnston Atoll Personal website of a guy who was a civilian contractor on Johnston Atoll during dismantlement operations after the CW demil facility had destroyed all the weapons on the island. Kind of melancholy to see the pics, at least for those of us who have been there. Med Beach Hotel Mediterranean Beach Hotel in Limassol, Cyprus, where Vika and I went for our honeymoon. And yes, I am showing off. Hat Trick Charters Deep sea charter fishing out of Cape Canaveral, Florida. These are the guys that hooked me and my boys up on during my July 2003 stateside R&R trip. Shark Attack! Interesting and at times gruesome site with up-to-date statistics on worldwide shark attacks. Contains some graphic pictures - not for kiddies! |
The Filthy Critic Profanity-laced movie reviews with an ongoing storyline out of Arvada, Colorado from a writer named Matt Weatherford. Very funny and accurate, even though at times he seems to review nothing but movies which are obvious dogs, just for the sake of spitting out a more amusing diatribe. Updates every Sunday evening. Internet Movie Database Relational database site where you can look up and cross-reference movies, actors, quotes, plots, etc. Very useful for those "What have I seen him in?" instances. EHOWA Ernie's House Of Whoop Ass. A hilarious personal site from a belligerent, unapologetically-patriotic, opinionated but well-spoken former Air Force airman out of Boston. Where I go when I'm trying to write something offensive and need a new colorful metaphor. Warning: contains potentially offensive language, porn, stories containing explicit descriptions of disgusting bodily functions, references to porn, and links to porn sites. Not for kiddies!
MosNews English-language news from Russia (Moscow-centric). Moscow Expat Fairly decent info site for English-speaking Moscow residents. Has an interesting Forums BB, though we get a bit whiny and self-righteous at times. Afisha What to do and where to go, eat, dance, drink, etc in Moscow. (Slightly more useful and interesting if you happen to read Russian). |
US Embassy in Moscow US Embassy site with tons of useful links to visa and immigration info, as well as "Latest News" relevant to Russian-American relations. Moscow Metro System Moscow subway website. In Russian with an English-language section, but you'll have to find it yourself. Tinkoff Beer Russian microbrewery chain, where I go to get my beer and "sorry we're out of raw oysters" fix. In Russian with an English-language section. Be sure to check out their tv ads page...slightly less tame than what you'll see in the US. |

Web Page Goodies I am not paid for endorsing these sites - I just find them useful.
Yahoo Geocities My hosts for this site, give 'em a try. User-friendly admin interface is nearly foolproof. Hell, if yours truly can maintain a website, then any dipshit can! Bells & Whistles Dot Com Great HTML reference site with useful tutorials ranging from rote basic code up to complex tables and forms code. |
Webmonkey Color Codes Webmonkey developers' resource. This page goes to a hexadecimal color codesheet with colored blocks for ease of use. Contains links to other webpage programming references. |
