Archbishop's Mansion
1000 Fulton Street - San Francisco |
The 15 rooms have been named and styled after leading characters in famous operas. Reserve the suite bearing Don Giovanni's name: It has a Renaissance formality and features a huge canopied four-poster bed, originally found in a castle in France./ Review |
The staff at The Archbishop's Mansion went above and beyond basic service. Friendly, warm and extremely knowledgable. Perfect driving directions and great restaurant suggestions. The Mansion is jaw-droppingly gorgeous and my room (Der Rosenkavalier) was electically elegant (the huge bathroom has a Victorian sofa near the tub). The only thing that kept me from rating this hotel as excellent was the "old" smell when I first walked in the room...the musty/musky smell of old/antique furniture...which dissipated after a few minutes. Overall: elegant and exquisite and one of the best staffs in the world!/ Review |

A list of names to go with the rooms would be helpful, and isn't there 15 rooms named for opera characters? The official mansion website has only 9 bedrooms pictured. |
