We like Cleethorpes best in the winter and especially on weekdays when
all the crowds have gone. We frequently walk along the sea front towards the
yacht club when there is always something of interest to see. Last year because
of the Foot and Mouth epidemic we spent a lot of time walking along Cleethorpes
sea front!!

There are always a lot of waders on the estuary.
In the winter there are flocks of Golden Plover and Lapwing to be seen. Other common sights include Redshank, Oyster
Catcher, Shelduck, Turnstone, Heron, Black Backed Gull.
Official Ramblers Association walks were cancelled for weeks during 2001
but a few of us managed to get together for some unofficial walks on
Wednesdays. We had a very successful walk from Barton over the
