Everything you recognise on this site that belongs to Tamora Pierce is well, simply hers. Her characters such as Daine and Numair, Tortall and such, are her exclusive creations and all credit is due to her.

If you are reading the fan fiction and are feeling miffed about me "borrowing" her characters, well, do hear what I have to say. I have never been so moved by emotion or by my imagination to write all my uneventful life till I read Tamora Pierce's enchanting Tortall series.

In fact, fan fiction is perhaps, the highest accolade that an author can receive. Fan fiction is the penultimate compliment, as they say "actions is louder than words". They show that the author's careful crafting and vivid portrayal of characters are so successful that they seem alive in the readers' imagination.

We sympathesise.

We empathesise.

We feel for the characters.

Seeds of creativity is sown into our otherwise dull minds and we are compelled to put to words how we feel and think about the characters and possible situations in life they may face. We pick up the pen and we write. Not because we are forced to, or we are compelled to. We write, because we like it, we enjoy it and most of all, we are inspired to do it.

Fan Fiction shows that the book the author has wrote is not just any other book we have read. It is a book that will live on in our minds even after the pages turn yellow with age. We have not read and forgotten the story, nay, instead, we have taken it into a higher level. We have tried to understand the characters, try to imagine how they would react to different circumstances life could possibly throw them.

Indeed it is rare for a book to be inspiring enough to spur on future generations of possible writers. Who knows? Perhaps, a future Charles Dickons or Shakespeare is using fan fiction as a stepping stone to put his pen to paper.

The only rewards I derive from creating Sparrow's Nest and writing fan fiction is my own personal satisfaction.

If Miss Pierce ever visits this site, what I have to say is . . .

Miss Pierce, take this site, as a high accolade, for indeed,

that is what it is.
