Cross-Cultural Communication
Final Projects

1. Group Blog Project
You have two choices for this project. Please only do one.

Choice #1:
Type a 400-word reflective paper about this experience. This paper is due on the last day of class,
January 15, 2009.

Paper details: A4 size, Book Antiqua, size 12, 1.5 spacing, word count at end, title in center at top, name and ID in upper-right corner

Choice #2:
Create an 8-slide VoiceThread detailing your thoughts about this project through written and voice comments. You can do this VoiceThread with a partner to make it more interactive and fun! Send the VoiceThread link to Suzanne by
January 15, 2009.

These questions are a guideline only – you don’t have to answer every question for the reflective paper or the VoiceThread. These questions are only to help you think of ideas.

(1) What new vocabulary/grammar have you learned?
(2) What American cultural things have you learned?
(3) What did you MOST enjoy about communicating with MSU students? Why?
(4) What did you LEAST enjoy about communicating with MSU students? Why?
(5) What social issues have you discussed? Do you all have the same opinion on the topic?
(6) How often did you post your entries?
(7) How often did you comment on your blogpals’ entries?
(8) Was this project easy to participate in? Why?
(9) How could your teacher make this a better experience for you?
(10) Are you at all interested in continuing your communication with your MSU blogpals (i.e., via email)?
(11) Do you think this project was helpful for you to improve your English skills?
(12) If you participate in this project again, what would you like to do in order to make it more meaningful?
(13) Any suggestions / advice / comments for your teacher?
2. Cross-Cultural Presentation Using PPT

See the
example PowerPoint slideshow for project details. You will have free time in class to work on this project on December 18. This is your chance to ask Suzanne questions about the exciting features of PPT.

How will you be graded? See the
rubrics for your PPT and your oral presentation.

As a class, we will vote on the best country presentation. That group will win a prize!

Important Notes:
(1) Email your PPT file to Suzanne by Monday, January 12, 2009.
(2) Presentations will be on the last day of class, January 15, 2009.
