BRAND X's music is difficult to categorize, but it is sort of a blend of jazz-fusion and progressive rock played by very capable and creative musicians. The original members were JOHN GOODSALL (guitar), PERCY JONES (bass), PHIL COLLINS (drums), and ROBIN LUMLEY (keyboards). Over the years, other players have included PETER ROBINSON (keyboards), JOHN GIBLIN (bass), MORRIS PERT (drums), KENWOOD DENNARD (drums), BILL BRUFORD (drums), MIKE CLARKE (drums), FRANK KATZ (drums), and MARK WAGNON (vibes). |

Left: JOHN GOODSALL's first band was BABYLON, whose other members eventually became JOE COCKER'S GREASE BAND. After this, he was in the band, ATOMIC ROOSTER. During one of Brand X's dormant periods, Goodsall recorded with a band called FIRE MERCHANTS. |

"It's hard to say what we [Brand X] contributed. Possibly we added a somewhat European sound to the fusion music scene since the majority of the bands doing that stuff came from the USA. I think we added a humorous aspect also since we never tried to take it too seriously....I think it was music for a certain period of time that we have now moved on from."
