My Father
My father graduated from SHORTRIDGE HIGH SCHOOL in Indianapolis in the class with KURT VONNEGUT, JR. He was preparing to attend Purdue University when World War II interrupted his plans. He enlisted and was in the 1st Marine Division, the ones who were on Guadalcanal in the South Pacific. My father was wounded on Pelelieu. When he recovered, he did not attend Purdue. And so it goes.
