Jerry Goodman
Born: Chicago, Illinois
VIOLINIST extraordinaire who was one of the first, if not the first, person to use the violin regularly in a rock setting. His playing with the MAHAVISHNU ORCHESTRA (he was an original member) is excellent as is his work with JAN HAMMER. I was lucky enough to see GOODMAN when he toured with the DIXIE DREGS.
GOODMAN was in a band called "THE FLOCK" in the late '60s and early '70s. It might have been the first "rock" band to use a violinist on most of its songs.
