Thunderclap Newman
Originally a trio assembled by THE WHO'S PETE TOWNSHEND, THUNDERCLAP NEWMAN had a hit with their very first release, SOMETHING IN THE AIR, in 1970, and it became an anthem for the times. The band members went their separate ways soon after.
JOHN "SPEEDY" KEEN: Vocals, drums, rhythm guitar
JIMMY MCCULLOCH: Lead guitar
ANDY "THUNDERCLAP" NEWMAN: Keyboards
Additional members added later:
JIM AVERY: Bass
JACK MCCULLOCH: Drums

Jimmy McCulloch eventually wound up in
STONE THE CROWS and WINGS, but died in 1979.
Left: Kent State, 1970
