My Uncle Bob
My UNCLE BOB was an accomplished musician who played the Renaissance instrument, VIOLA DA GAMBA, amongst other things. He was the youngest conductor ever of the INDIANA UNIVERSITY SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA and was, obviously, a VERY interesting and cultured guy. He migrated to L.A. in his twenties, and my brother and I only got to see him occasionally on his visits home. When he was in his fifties, he became a Hare Krishna and disappeared from my life. The last time I heard, he was in India, but he's probably dead by now because his excesses were not conducive to a long lifespan.
