The Club offers walks every weekend with varying degrees of interest and exercise. Members come from as far as Newport Beach, north of Sydney, and up to Goulburn in the south.

As the Highlands lends itself to very few "easy" walks, grades vary from mild to strenuous, as we roam from ridges to rivers.

The area covered is reasonable large, ranging from the Sydney region to as far south as Bungonia, mostly on good tracks with the occasional off-track.

Most ridges offer magnificent views over gorges, lakes, rivers and ocean. The weather and season contribute many opportunities to the photographers among us. As we descend, we travel beneath overhangs with a lovely display of coloured sandstone created by the weather, interspersed with dripping moss and ferns of many varieties, or go through a large variety of different types of vegetation.

The rivers and creeks see us clambering over small rocks to huge boulders, enjoying lovely waterfalls, and on a hot day taking time out for a swim.

Backpacking and car camps are becoming increasingly popular. We like to make these a social event with tea, damper and a campfire, weather permitting.

Some off-track sections can offer prickly bush and loose slopes so long sleeves and trousers (not shorts) are recommended. Shoes with good treads and a hat are essential.

Judging the difficulty or time of a walk just by the kilometres, eg. 16kms or 5kms is usually not possible because along a river can take all day, as can 10 or 16 kms along a track.

We enjoy our billy tea, taking photographs, learning to identify the flora and fauna, and generally having a lovely day out with our friends.
