Shade
Britpop sound,
straight out of Steel City.
Shade is a post-punk indie band with aspirations to become
the next Blur or Oasis. The Pittsburgh quintet's brooding, intense music has
earned them the respect of the local underground music scene with plenty of
comparisons to Radiohead, Manic Street Preachers and The Stone Roses. The
band's self-released 2002 debut, 'Forever Now, Nowhere Tomorrow,' is a lush,
psychedelic ride that offers a good taste of their live sound, and shows off
their knack for great songwriting. With their fan base beginning to stretch
outside of Steel City, Shade is poised to get more national attention. If
you're into Britpop, you would do well to check these guys out. -- Stephen Hood
