DEATH =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= As stated, Shadowed Isles is a Judge-Based MUX, and has implemented a +warn command so PCs have ONE last minute chance to change IC actions which could end in a PC's IC death. However, should a player agree to continue the scene, then the possible harm and/or death of their PC is no long up for debate. Players have considerable time and effort invested in a PC. Between creation, approval and RP, the PC sometimes takes on a life of its own. Removing a PC from play can be traumatic for the player(s) involved, and although PC death does occur, it should NEVER be done without proper consideration of both player and the IC situation. There are often alternatives and options which can prevent PK (PC Killing), though not always. In most cases, when a player makes use of the +warn command, it will be acknowledged and consented to one way or the other. When IC death or PK is ICly unavoidable, please remember the following: * ALWAYS explore the options. PK should NEVER be the first and only solution to a problem. * ALWAYS contact Staff before the actual killing of the PC takes place. If at all possible, Staff should witness such scenes in order that all parties feel they were fairly treated. * ALWAYS be OOCly polite and courteous about what happens. Remember this is a game. The PC and the player are NOT the same. * ALWAYS realize there are IC consequences to IC actions. Supernatural PCs may discover what happened, and your PC be held responsible. That's one of the risks in the World of Darkness. * NEVER bully anyone into anything! If you are asked for a consent to death and would rather not, or feel there isn't sufficient justification, then state your objections CLEARLY. If the other player persists, even after your objection, please call for Staff. * DO NOT ICly or OOCly threaten the other player, or say things like "My sire can beat up your sire!" or "My friends will get you for this!" Petty threats are just that, petty. * ALWAYS accept the fact that if you consent to the action, you accept the results. If you do consent, state it clearly, by saying something like, "I consent, as long as you understand there may be IC consequences." If you give your consent, then don't be snide or threatening, or change your mind in the middle of the scene. * After the PK occurs, please do not hold a grudge, or seek revenge either by IC or OOC methods. Most players do not enjoy killing another player's PC, and use that ONLY as a LAST resort. To hold them OOCly to blame for such actions is rude and hurtful. If need be, contact a member of Staff and "vent" to them, but please don't take it out on your fellow players. The bottom line is that IC Actions equal IC Consequences, or ICA=ICC. It's as simple as that. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Return to News Files |
