JUDGES
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

Judges are Staff members authorized to judge combat scenes and/or witness other situations requiring player rolls, +sheet alterations or +Note additions.

To summon a Judge, please type +judges, which pulls up a list of Staff members online, and the areas for which they are qualified to judge. Typing +judges/all will give a listing of ALL judges (on or offline), and the areas for which they
are qualified to judge.

Then, type +judge, citing the reason for which a judge is being summoned.

If there is no Staff members online, please type +judges/all, pick the judge most qualified to judge the scene, and @mail *Judges stating the SPECIFIC reason WHY the judge is needed, AND when you are likely to be online again.

Judges may NOT judge scenes involving their PC Alts. The ONLY exception to this is during scenes when no one wants to wait for an impartial Judge, and EVERYONE has been EXPLICITLY informed the Judge present has a PC Alt involved. If -- and ONLY if! -- everyone agrees may the Staff member then act as Judge.

If a player calls a Judge, and a Judge does not respond, it may be that Judge is busy judging another scene, is otherwise busy, or may have an Alt involved in the scene. Generally, when Judges are not available, they will set an @idle message stating such. Like all Staff on Shadowed Isles, Judges are there to assist players, however, they are not obligated to do so. There are usually very good reasons for a Judge to not respond to a player request.

ALL players on Shadowed Isles have the right to call a Judge, especially in combat scenes. Players also have the right to REFUSE a Judge whose PC is directly involved with the scene. In that case, the scene may need to be set as a TimeStop (i.e., frozen) until an appropriate Judge is found. If a scene must be frozen in the absence of an appropriate Judge, the players may choose to either Retcon the scene, postpone and agree on a mutually conveninet time for it to resume, or @mail the Judge of their choice to run the scene. Every time the players choose to Retcon a scene, it is REQUIRED at least one of those involved (preferably ALL) @mail *Judges, AND all players involved, to inform everyone what happened and WHY. This keeps the lines of communication open, and can clear up confusion, as well as allows the Judge to monitor for abuse. We have Judges to accommodate every situation, so hopefully these inconveniences will not happen often.
