Lores
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

Since Shadowed Isles is a multi-sphered MUX, there exists the possibility of aPC running into any number of supernatural races. They may, over time, learn something about these various races, who they are where they came from, what they can do.

When this happens as a result of RP, the PC can gain knowledge in the form of a "Lore." After the scene takes place, the player should send @mail to BOTH their Sphere Wiz AND the Wizard for the sphere from which they will be getting the Lore. They should provide logs and/or the specific information gained in as much detail as possible so it may be approved. Once approved, the Lore is set on the PC's stat sheet, and/or +Noted on the PC itself.

To better understand exactly what each level of Lore represents, read over the following list. Remeber this in the @mail, as Staff is not omnipotent, and  does not always know what it going on with each individual player.

Lore 0: You know the basic myths and rumors. You've heard of "Dracula," and you've watched the "Howling." You may even recall reading something about sorcerors and wizards, and everyone knows about Shakespeare's "Midsummer Night's Dream." If you're a supernatural, you may barely know the mechanics of your existence -- a Vampire with no Kindred Lore only knows she needs to
drink blood, stay out of the sun, and avoid fire (most likely learning the hard way, too).

Lore 1: You've certainly heard of the supernatural race(s), and might have actually met one of them. You know these races have special powers of their own, and a structure of their society, but not much more. You may know five to ten FACTS about the race as a whole, but your knowledge isn't extensive. You know enough about the supernatural race to avoid sensationalist press and look for real sources of information in libraries, bookstores, etc.

Lore 2: Either you or someone close to you have dealt with the supernatural race(s). You know for certain they have an organized society, and you have a general idea of their special abilities. You possess ten to fifteen facts about the supernatural race(s) and their society.

Lore 3: You have definitely met and dealt with the supernatural race(s), and the knowledge you possess is first hand. You know their powers, and have a good grasp of their political structure -- at least you think you do.

Lore 4: You are aware of the structure of their organization, and understand it as well. If you aren't one of them (yet?), your have regular dealings with them. In fact, you have gotten close to one or more of them and learned some solid facts about their powers, society and lifestyle. You are sure of what you know, and could definitely prove dangerous if you wanted to be.

Lore 5: You have knowledge of intricate details about their history, society and powers. If you aren't one of them (yet?), you know more about them than many of them know themselves. You could write a scholorly text about them, but probably shouldn't. If the information you possess ever got into the wrong hands, it could blow the Masquerade, break the Veil, shatter the Shade and turn the Dreaming into a nightmare. You are now officially dangerous.
