I love Yami x Mahaado…. ^^

Chapter 3

When he woke up the next morning, there was artificial sun rising, painting the view he could see with crimson and gold and purples, brilliant rainbows of glory. He felt at peace here, even as he sank to his knees and murmured proper obeisance to the sun god, Ra… in a language that was familiar, and yet…

Being in this place seemed to stir his instincts, if not his memories…

He found his Dark Magician waiting at the door quietly, a tray of food in his hands.

            “Mahaado….”

            “My Pharaoh…”

Just something in that inflection made him catch his breath. That pure adoration was too much for him to bear.

It didn’t make any sense! They were just monsters… right?

Yami didn’t have very good people skills. Being trapped in a puzzle for a few millennia did tend to erode one’s social mannerisms. However…

He wasn’t that dense. He could pick up this nuance, this wavelength… it seemed vaguely like what Yuugi felt for Anzu, but in a way, more…

It was deeper, darker, and somehow…

When it was directed at him, it felt warm.

He felt quite warm as Mahaado set the tray down.

“Mahaado? Where do all my other monsters live?” Surely, the other monsters were also alive in this realm…

The Dark Magician frowned slightly. “They live close to this Castle, my lord, but none save Mana and I live in the Castle of Dark Illusions.

            “Mana?”

“You know her as Dark Magician Girl.”

Dark Magician Girl…. If only he’d drawn that card, perhaps…

Thinking back, the evens of the duel were suddenly brought out in sharp clarity. He had… lost… the game…

This time, it was worse than the duel atop the castle… it hurt and he gave a cry of pain, feeling as though a black wound had opened up within his chest, tearing through flesh and letting blood loose…

“Pharaoh!” Mahaado caught him, and he clung to the monster tightly, as if that would stop the pain…

Strangely enough, or perhaps it was a mind over matter symptom, the pain lessened, dulled, became almost bearable, a faint hum of distress on the edge of his mind.

            Interesting.

However, that wasn’t his main concern right now. He let himself breath, slowly, in, out, and with some surprise, registered that his monster’s heartbeat was in synch with his own.

Slowly, he stood, and Mahaado let him go.

“I should not have brought that up, Pharaoh. I crave your forgiveness.” Mahaado whispered, and sank to his knees in front of him.

            Yami frowned.

Mahaado was too good at this Egypt theme. If this were a game he was playing – and Yami doubted that highly, no monster would dare deceive their Master, or they would face his wrath – then how did he know?

Had he used the Dark Magician back in Egypt? But of course he had, if that carving at the Museum had been any indication.

            Still…

“I forgive you.” Yami said, watching as the Dark Magician rose gracefully to his feet. His robes were still pristinely white, even after everything…

The golden ornaments were rather pretty, little diamonds… but also familiar, like… the points of the Millennium Ring?

No, he was thinking too much. Yami grabbed the monster’s arm, forcing blue-green eyes to meet his

            “Mahaado.”

            “P-Pharaoh…”

There it was again…that barely there tremor in his voice, and a hint of… desire, in his eyes? It couldn’t be!

Duel monsters didn’t have feelings, did they?

Even if he looked human he was still just a monster!

But if that were the case, why did frantic panic fill them now, as Yami slowly brought his head down?

It was just a test, Yami reasoned to himself, as their lips brushed. Just a… test…

He felt himself drowning, he didn’t know why, but it was love… obedience, adoration, obsession and possession and everything pure and fixated on him

            Why?

Dark Magician was his favorite card, and he could always count on it to protect him, but surely, surely, that was just preference.

            It didn’t mean anything!

Why then, did his hands tangle in long soft hair as he pulled the taller being into another kiss, this one more than the one before, no hesitation, just passion?

Why then, did arms slide around his waist with an almost familiar feeling, holding him close?

They were almost to the bedroom when Yami’s brain finally overrode his hormones and he realized what was going on.

He had just kissed his Dark Magician!

Not to mention, he had enjoyed it.

And this could not be a good thing. Not at all!

The man sensed his hesitation, all traces of desire vanishing beneath a stoic mask of cool confidence, but with humility mixed in somehow. “Pharaoh.”

            There it was again. Pharaoh…

That title, so much wrapped up in it, and he felt his memories close, if only he could reach out and touch…

What was he thinking? This irrational lust was not of him! He growled and vowed to keep a closer handle on his self-control.

“What have you done?” He growled out.

            The monster looked pained. “Pharaoh.”

Had it gone mute? Or was its vocabulary that limited? It hadn’t said much, in any case, besides the obvious, telling him where things were.

Perhaps it was programmed to obey his very whim?

That scared Yami. He was somehow controlling these monsters? It was different on the field, than here…

            This was too real.

“Are you some creation of Malik’s?” Yami wondered out loud, “To entrap me in this illusion? Are you some figment of my imagination, then?”

Perhaps it was all a dream… he couldn’t have lost a duel to a crazed magician!

But when had dreams felt so much like reality? Even having been trapped in darkness for so many years… wait.

He didn’t dream. He didn’t sleep. Maybe he was hallucinating now?

            Where was Yuugi?

As Yami felt darkness claim him again, he reflected that dream monsters shouldn’t look so sad. It just wasn’t right…
