Flaming June

The month for love and weddings
When the flames of love burn brightly
Passion and romance rule the days
The scent of flowers and perfume fill the air
Thoughts of love imbue everyone with joy
Pleasure and happiness shine on all

At least that is how June is supposed to be
I spent June living in the shadows of love
Seeing others basking in love’s luminous glow
Only darkened the omnipresent shadows I dwell in
I desire love, but it has become a stranger to me
An elusive stranger who evaporates when touched

Flaming June has become the month I reside in
A time of loneliness, pain and confusion
Love lost, friendship tossed aside, heart broken
Left feeling unworthy of love or even caring
My flaming June has stretched into August
Will this infernal month last until my winter’s end?
