Great Grandmother , Ceola Tullos (sp. Robert Peyton Downey) was very proud of her Native American ancestry. Her father, Stephen B. Tullos was one half Choctaw and was born in Mississippi in 1864. His family migrated to the Angelina County, Texas area sometime between 1864 and 1880. Stephen Tullos' mother was a Choctaw.
Ceola was also Native American through the Pearis line. Colonel/Captain Richard Pearis married Rhoda , who was a Native American.
Great Grandmother Ceola made sure that I knew of my Native American ancestry at a young age, and always made me aware of it's relevance in American history.
