I was in Europe from December 15th to January 16th. I have seen so much in my two trips but this time around I got to spend more time in each individual area. I landed in London early in the morning on the 15th and met up with Helene. We then boarded a plane to Amsterdam. This was the second time I was in Amsterdam and we got to see much more this time because we decided to stay 3 full days. From there we flew to Basel where we met up with Helene's parents for the night. The next day we went to Naples. We stayed at the Bella Capri, a block away from the seaport. While in Naples we went to Pompeii, Ercolano, and the Island of Capri. From Naples we went to Mulhouse to spend the holidays with Helene's family. They are the nicest people and have done so much for me the past two times I have been to Europe. They keep me coming back and make me love France the most! While in Mulhouse, her family showed me around their region, Alsace. Going to such places as Truckheim, Freiburg, and Strasbourg. After saying good bye to Pierre, Anne, Flo, Clara, and Spot, Helene and I flew to Munich. We drank alot of beer in Munich and celebrated the new year there. We then flew to London. We went to London for a night because we had a flight the next morning to Altenburg, Germany. We flew into a former Soviet airstrip into a small town. From Altenburg, we visited Leipzig, Wittenburg, and Dresden. Eastern Germany is different from the west. You can see the legacy of the Communist DDR goverment that was in power until 1989. From Altenburg we flew back to London ( I know for someone who hates London as much as I do, I flew there enough!) and from there we went to Sittingbourne, where Helene is living and teaching. From Sittingbourne, we went to Canterbury which is a great little town with a rich history. From Sittingbourne we went back to London, stayed a full day to see the sights with me flying back home to Philadelphia the next day. With that said, let's see some pictures. |
