More Berlin
..text
The two black and white photos on the left were on portions of the wall at Potsdamplatz, which is the most famous part of Berlin much because this is where the boundary was set for the steel curtian.  Most of the wall is taken down now with only a few portions left up for tourist/memory purposes.  Berlin is filled with tall buildings now and does not show the scars of their communist occupation. However, we did see a building from the world war era and you could see bullet holes all over it.
The monument to the right is a World War II memorial....for the Russians.  Its found on the road that leads to the Brandenburg Gate, also known as idiots mile during the Russian occupation.  The Russian soldier is gigantic.  Berlin is unique because it was a symbol and a starting point for the post-world war pre-cold war era.  The city has kept track of the famed Berlin Wall by keeping the foundation of it all throughout the city.  You see lines of bricks in the pavement, this is where the wall once was.
We were in Berlin during the World Cup so the atmosphere was great.  The prices were extremely cheap for everything including transportation.  We would just hop on the subways/trains without paying.  The food is good, people are nice and the beer is king.
