Purpose in life is important. What are
you really
doing here on planet earth? Do you feel you're wasting
your time? It's very
simple to evaluate this quickly. If you have more
"ups" than "downs," then
you are pretty close to your niche in life. But if you
have more "downs"
than "ups," it's time to start thinking and
moving to the right or left,
up or down, until you find your niche. Otherwise you are
wasting your time.
Suppose someone passes on while in a state of confusion.
He is mentally and
spiritually in skid row. Because of the lack of balance
in his state of
consciousness, he becomes what the master Jesus called an
"unclean spirit"
or earthbound soul because the thoughts of the unclean
spirits are earthbound.
They are not really on earth, but are still thinking
about the things here.
The Catholics call them souls in Purgatory. Protestants
call them souls in
Hell, and some religions call them souls who are
experiencing Karma. Others
may refer to them in relation to demon-possession. Many
people in mental
institutions know about this reality because they are
experiencing it. If
a person is confused, he is going to attract confusion If
he is in balance,
he is going to attract balance. There are many Bible
verses that refer to
these confused souls: When the even was come, they
brought unto him that
were possessed with devils; and he cast out the spirits
with his word, and
healed all that were sick. Matthew 8:16 When the unclean
spirit has gone
out of a man, he passes through waterless places seeking
rest, but he finds
none. Matthew 12:43 There is another level of
consciousness called "Limbo."
Let's say we have a man on earth who never really
understands what life is
all about. He is a good man, but he has no awareness
about himself and where
he is going. When he passes on, he will end up in
"Limbo." Until he can come
to some awareness about himself and the real meaning of
life, he will remain
in "Limbo." Like so many people, it just took
too much effort to search within
for the answers to life. A person may say "I
tried," but most of the people
who use this expression are in "Limbo." They're
either here nor there. They
are sitting on the fence, waiting for the big opportunity
to come by. I'd
like to tell a little story about a chicken and a pig. It
seems the chicken
had managed to keep this little pig all "beat
down." Whenever they took a
walk together, she would tell the pig about her wonderful
contribution to
society, for she laid an egg every day. One day when they
were walking together
down the road by the farm, they passed by a big sign with
an advertisement
showing a picture of a platter of ham and eggs. "See
what I've been telling
you," exclaimed the chicken, "My contribution
to society? I lay an egg every
day!" The little pig looked at the sign and looked
at the chicken, and then
looked at the sign again. Then he said, "I can see
that yours is a contribution
all right, but mine is total commitment!" We get out
of life 4exactly what
we put into it, and this applies to everything we do.
Most of us are making
a lot of contributions to society, but how many of us are
totally committed
to ourselves? We are either chicken or whole hog, and
that's what we're going
to get out of life.
