An English arts teacher should be caring, helpful and imaginative.
English teachers should be constantly inspiring students to write while also pushing them to their creative limits.
He/She will create a community within the classroom for students to openly express their ideas and viewpoints.
The teacher will also be constantly thinking of innovative ways to keep students interested in reading and writing.
The teacher must also show the importance of grammar in the classroom as well as the outside world.
The teacher will approach every student with a positive remark first.
It is our duty as teachers to encourage writing and creating so all students have a chance at being good at it.
The classroom will have a positive, warm atmosphere so every student will feel welcome.
Students, regardless of their learning level, will be motivated and challenged accordingly.
Every student will have equal opportunity for advancement.
"Students have voices, things to say uniquely and powerfully if they are permitted free reign.  The teacher's job is to set up an atmosphere in which students feel safe to cut loose with their language, to set words down boldly."    Tom Romano
A teacher should be a facilitator with classroom discussions rather than a dictator to encourage active participation.
