Laying on the bed was a white/blonde hair figure and Buffy walked closer standing near the side of the bed. The figure was sound asleep as she brushed back his hair and he sighed with a smile. This was Spike. One of the most vile vampires she had ever fought. Now, he was human and her husband. He died saving the world a year ago only to come back to her alive and totally human. This return came with a price. He was brain damaged and suffered violent seizures that frightened not only Spike but Buffy. Spike's doctor had scheduled tests done every six months and Buffy looked at him. Spike laid under the covers as he looked so peaceful and a doctor teddy bear rested under his left hand. Dawn had given it to him when he went into the hospital the first time and Buffy sighed. ----------------------------------------------- " This is bloody nuts! I won't do it! ", Spike said when he sat on the bed and Buffy looked at him. She was six months pregnant as she growled as she packed some things into a suitcase for him. " Do you want to die!? Again!? ", she asked as he looked at her with a hurt look and he sighed. " Buffy, I really don't think I need this. I'm fine. ". " BLOOD came out of your ears the last time! ". " Easy, Pet, don't get upset. The baby. ", Spike said as he walked closer and held her close to him. Her swollen stomach rubbed against him as she looked at him and he brushed the hair from her eyes. " Then do what the doctor wants. Please! ", she said as he saw the tears in her eyes and he smiled. " Ok. Sure. ", Spike said as he kissed her and they left for the hospital. Dawn went with them when they checked Spike in and he laid under the covers. He wore one of those backless hospital gowns as he tried to adjust himself and Buffy smiled at him. " Why do they make these bleeding things so short!? ". " Don't know. ", she said when Dawn walked inside and had a bag in her hands. " Got a present for the sickie! ", Dawn said as he took the bag and looked inside. He sighed taking the doctor teddy bear out and Buffy tried not to laugh. " Thanks Little Bit. ", Spike said as she smiled and the nurse came inside and told them they had to go. Dawn left as Buffy looked at Spike and he laid on his side holding onto the teddy bear. Buffy touched his hair when she noticed the look in his eyes and pouted. " Spike? ". " Don't go. ", he said with a voice she hadn't heard in a long time and she brushed his hair back. " It's ok. ". " N-no. William scared. ". " Is that why you didn't want to do this? ". Spike nodded as she looked at him and gently kissed his hair. She had forgotten that he had gone insane before he died and a part of him was still crazy. Still scared. " It's ok. Buffy's here. I won't go. ". " Pr-promise? ", he said with an almost childlike tone and she nodded. Spike closed his eyes and drifted off to sleep as Buffy watched him and only left after she was sure that he was sound asleep. She did come back the next day before he woke up and he smiled at her when he opened his eyes. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Buffy gently kissed Spike's hair when he smiled then rolled over to his side holding the teddy bear close to him. She looked at the picture on the night stand when she smiled and picked up the picture. Spike and Buffy smiled back at her and Buffy was holding a baby in her arms. Buffy smiled when she placed the picture down, felt him reaching for her hand, and she gently touched his fingers. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Three months ago. Her water broke. Buffy was in the bathroom when she felt the contracton hit and she screamed. Spike ran into the bathroom as she looked at him and Spike looked shocked " Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, bloody hell, now!? ". " Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooow! ", Buffy shouted as he helped her and Dawn and the others ran inside. " What happened!? ", Dawn asked and he looked at her. " Her water broke! ", Spike shouted as the others moved about the room gathering her things and they went to the hospital. Buffy worried about Spike coming into the delivery room but Spike wasn't going to hear any word against it and they went into the delivery room. Spike helped her when the doctor told her when to push and when not to and she looked at Spike. " I ca-can't do this! ", Buffy said as she grew tired and he pouted. " Ohhhhhhhhhhhh, puh-lease, Pet, I have seen you go longer then this! ", Spike said as the doctor looked at him and Spike smiled, " She works out. ". Buffy was in labor for nineteen hours when Spike looked down to where the doctor sat between Buffy's legs and saw the head of the baby coming out. His eyes went wide as the baby came out and the doctor cleaned out the nose and mouth causing the baby to cry. " It's a boy! ", the doctor said as they looked at each other and Buffy smiled at Spike, " Do you want to cut the cord? ". Spike looked at Buffy when he took the scissors and cut the cord. She watched the doctor take the baby to one side of the room and they weighed and measured the baby and they waited for the doctor to bring the baby back. " Is he all right? ". They had told the doctor about Spike's seizures and the doctor had told them there might be a chance that the baby might have them and would have to do tests. " He's fine. Twenty-two inches and eight pounds even. ", the nurse said when she handed the baby to Spike and Spike held his son in his arms. They left the room so Buffy and Spike could be alone with their son Buffy watched Spike walk to the window. " I can't believe we had a boy! I mean all we have are girl names! ". Spike just stood by the window and she looked at him. " Spike? ". Spike didn't answer as she looked at him and he looked out the window. " Are you ok? ". " Yeah. I'm....fine. ". " Are you crying? ". Spike sniffed as she pouted and felt her love for him reaching out to him and he turned around. He wiped his eyes when she reached for him and he walked to the bed. He handed her the baby when she held her son in her arms and Spike gently sat on the bed with them. Buffy looked under the blanket when she kissed the tiny hands and Spike placed an arm around her. " He is sooooooooooo cute! ". " Well, he does look like his father! ". Buffy smiled as he shrugged then noticed his hands shaking and she looked at him. Spike just smiled when he took the pill case out of his pocket and got some water. Spike took his medication then sat back down and she handed their son to him. " So, what do we call our little man? ", Spike asked as he pulled his legs up and placed the baby on top. " Dunno. Maybe we should name him after his father. ", Buffy said as he played with the tiny hands then looked at her. " You mean make him a junior? ". " Yeah. ", Buffy said as he looked at her and she pouted, " What is your full name anyway? ". " Weeeeeeeeeeeeeell, my first name is William. ". " I know that! ", Buffy said as he smiled and Buffy flicked his ear lobe. " The rest is " James " and....... ". " What? ". " You're not going to like it. ". " It can't be THAT bad ". " It's " Alexander ". ", Spike said as she looked at him and sighed. Alexander, or Xander, Harris was once her friend then he betrayed her and Buffy never wanted to hear his name ever again. " I see. ". " We could just go with " William James ". ". " No-no-no. I want him to be junior, so, we'll use the whole thing. ", Buffy said when the nurse came in and told them that the doctor wanted to do the tests and Spike, though very reluctant, gave her the baby. The test came back negative and they took their son home. Spike turned out to be a very good father. Though she did notice the jealous look he had whenever she had to breast feed the baby and she would just smile and assure him that he'll get his turn. She still laughed at when Little W, as Faith, the other slayer, called him, pissed over his daddy's shirt and Spike just shrugged. -------------------------------------------- Buffy smiled when the doctor walked inside and walked closer. " Mrs. Summers? ". Buffy and Spike agreed to keep her last name and she looked at the doctor. " Yes? Is he all right? ". " Oh, yes, he is doing very well. The tests came back just like last time. Just keep him on the medication. ". " Then he can go home today? ". " Yes. I'll go get the paper work. ", the doctor said when he left and she looked at Spike. He looked so peaceful when he sighed and looked a bit pained. " What was that about? ". --------------------------------------------- Spike was in the white room. He opened his eyes when he noticed that he was naked and sat up on the round bed. He looked around when he noticed the two figures walking closer and sighed. They were tall, with black hair and pale skin with blue markings, and were naked as well. " Hello William The Bloody. ", the female said as they stopped near the bed and he sighed pulling the covers around him. " Hello. So, what do you want? ". " We are here to warn you. ", the male said. " About what? ". " He is ready. ", the female said. " Well, thanks for the warning. Who the bloody hell are you talking about!? ". " You will find out. ", the male said as Spike laid down and looked up at the whiteness above his head. " Well, I really can't do much of anything. I mean, how can I fight something if I start having a seizure? Doesn't bloody help in a fight. ". " We can fix that. ", the female said as she sat on the bed and he looked at her with a bad boy smile. " Really!? No strings!? Just fix me up proper!? ", Spike asked and she looked at him. " Why do you have to be so suspicious of everything? ", the female said and he looked at her tilting his head to one side. " Well, you live as long as I have, Luv, and you get a bit leery of things. So, is this going to hurt? ". " Not really. ", The male said as Spike looked at the female and she brushed the hair from his eyes. Her fingers were cool as he smiled and she closed his eyes. He felt a slight pain in his head when he opened his eyes and she smiled. " There. Done. ", she said as he felt sleepy and closed his eyes. They vanished as Spike fell asleep and wondered what just happened. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Buffy brushed his hair from his eyes when the doctor came inside and she looked at the papers. She wrote on the papers when the doctor told her that he'll go get the wheelchair and she looked down. Spike's eyes were open when she kissed him and he blinked then smiled. " Ready to go home? ".
