The prophecy described in this episode says that once the vampire with a soul fulfills his destiny, that he will become human again. Everyone naturally assumed it would be Angel, but now, due to events in SunnyDale there are two vampires with souls. They are Angel, and Spike now has a soul in addition. With Spike set to join the Angel and the crew in Los Angelus, this prohpecy may very well have been planned for Spike as opposed to Angel. Angel was willing to give up his humanity because he would not have the same strengths that he would being a vampire. Spike on the other hand we have no idea what he would do if he became human.
