1848 Insurrection
Jospeh Brenan was born in Cork in 1828.  In his early years he particpated in several incursions with the Fenians and Young Irelanders. He escaped to the United States where he became editor of the New Orleans Times, He wrote poetry until his death in  1857, but no collection has been made of his works.  What exists is scattered as in the source of most of the poems here:  "Legends and Poems" by John Keegan. He was a friend of James Clarence Mangan who wrote a poem dedicated to him.
