| There are a few misconceptions regarding the Spiritualist Church. While our simple web page can do little more than begin a conversation, we'll attempt to clear up some mistaken notions about us. We are an Independent Spiritualist congregation. We do not practice "witchcraft". We simply believe in, and use, the gifts that are spoken of throughout the Bible. Our services consist of prayers to God, the Pledge of Allegiance, hymns from a traditional hymnal, a healing circle, and a Bible-based sermon. At the end of our service we give messages. Spiritualism teaches that, "There is no death, there are no dead." Rather than being an affront to God, the messages are simply the gift of prophecy that the Bible speaks of. We use the gifts God gave us all, giving all the glory to God.. Prophecy is looked down upon by some Christians because of misunderstanding, confusion, and fear. We're perplexed by the notion that we receive the gift of prophecy from the devil and not from God. According to scripture, the gift of prophecy is the most important of God's spiritual gifts. References to our gifts are found throughout the Bible! Paul considers prophecy vital to the growth of the church. In all the various lists and discussions of the gifts in Paul's letters, the only constant gift is prophecy. * "Would that all the Lord's people were Prophets, that the Lord would put His spirit upon them!" (Numbers 11:29) * "Earnestly desire to prophecy." (1 Corinthians 14:39, see also 12:31 and 14:1) * "In the last days, God says, I will pour out my spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophecy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams. Even on my servants, both men and women, I will pour out my spirit in those days, and they will prophecy." (Acts 2:16-18) These are only a few of the MANY references.
