Water temperature: 22°C Bottom time: 45 minutes Max. depth 81 ft. Drift dive. We started the dive early in the morning, at 7 am we were all waiting the dive master to count to three to jump into the water. We entered to the water and everybody signed ok, at the sandy bottom (20 - 25 ft. depth) where we stayed for about 10 minutes, waiting for sea lions, but they didn't arrive, so we started moving with the current. this time viz was good, more than 40 ft. We were told to look after galapagos sea horse hidding on black coral on the wall during the first part of the dive. We didn ' t find it. The sea lions found us and become part of the group. We where all happy with the variety and quantity of species around: white tip shark sea lions barracuda school spotted eagle ray puffer fish surgeon fish school creol fish school (most abundant fish in the galapagos) coral hawk fish panamic cushion starfish (a lot of different colors and sizes) |

Dive 3: | |||||||||||||||||
Water temperature: 22°C Bottom time: 49 minutes Max. depth 95 ft. Drift dive. Second dive in the morning, after a delicious breakfast, at 10.30 am we were ready to jump into the water. Same location as the previous dive. After everybody signed ok, at the sandy bottom, we started diving looking for the sea horse, until Antonio, our guide, show us one. It was really well hidden in the black coral, and was the only one we saw in the trip. We also discovered an octopus, and saw many schools of fish. At the end of the wall there was a corner where the current was stronger, and we waited there looking at the blue searching for big animals, and they started arriving, white tip sharks, turtles, eagle rays, giant manta, and barracudas. We also saw: a lot of eels, sea lions, chocolate chip star, sea cucumbers, a great variety of erizos, butterfish, parrot fish, surgeon fish, puffer fish, moorish idol, and in general similar species to the ones we saw the previous dive. This also was the first dive with Janet's digital camera, a very important accessory for all the divers at this locations... wait to see why... |
