A BRIEF HISTORY OF THE MEMBERSHIP OF HOLLY SPRINGS BAPTIST CHURCH,

MONROE COUNTY, TN
The HOLLY SPRINGS BAPTIST CHURCH, Monroe County, was organized on August 17, 1859.
The presbytery was composed of William A. McCormack,  G. Briant, and J.A. Wommack. Reverend G. Briant would become the first pastor .

The church lettered to the Sweetwater Association in1860 with thirty-six members (11 by baptism, 13 by letter,and 3 by statement).   [This information came from a Book  about the Sweetwater Baptist Association.  It has since ceased to be part of the Sweetwater Baptist Association
after the 1980 book was published.]

The listing of the first thirty-six members on the membership roll is the nearest to a list of charter members that we have. They were:

The current pastor is Rev. Benny Gourley.  The Church currently meets three times a week and all are welcome to come and visit.
