If I Had Known

If I had known the hardships of being a parent and student,
I would have spent more time being conscientious
And less rebellious in my early years.
I would have put an end to all the unnecessary partying.
If I had known.

If I had known I would be sitting up until early dawn,
After putting in eight hours as cook, housekeeper,
Counselor, therapist, and chauffeur.
I would have been more perceptive to my mother’s advice.
Silhouette

Heart to heart, hand to hand, these are children, not yet men.
Ripping and dripping, playing by the sea, with shifting sand
Beneath their small feet.
Silhouette, silhouette, cast by the sun, these are children , one, no two
Children at play, drenched by the rain.
Painted pictures on still waters stand, smeared only by the movement of man.
Tis a true picture of nature’s own.
Silhouette Cast by a created by God.
Chameleon Beauty

Emerged into a dark, cold world of imperfections.
She began this journey in life as a preemie with
Little hope of survival.
Because of her internal strength, determination, and
Grace from above she developed into a beautiful, healthy,
Intelligent woman.
Chameleon Beauty possessed innate qualities of creativity,
Adaptability, imagination, generosity, and faith.
As she matured talent, education, medical profession, and
Numerous connections played a part of who she became.
The greatest accomplishment in her life, daughter, sister, mother,
Wife, friend, and Christian.
Man Now Gone

I once met a man in Patuxent River, Maryland.
Dark piercing eyes he possessed.
Secrets of others he unmasked without revealing his true self.
Day and night he would work.
Hoping for a more prosperous life.
Always dictating behavior for others.
Never able to take criticism himself.
Always his way or nothing.
Never giving an inch.
This is truly a man who is definitely now gone.
