My Tribute to My Best Friend, Darrell W. Gulland, who flew to Heaven on August 4, 2000
You were the best man I ever knew,
All the times we had were pleasure.
When I think of honor and grace, I think of you,
As a friend, there was no greater treasure.
Looking out for everyone else,
That was surely your strongest suit,
Putting your needs up on the shelf,
To help others bring their dreams to fruit.
Always loving, always giving,
Always caring, always kind,
Now you're jumping, running, flying,
But you've left us all behind.
Behind with the memory of your sweet voice, kind face,
What time I have left, I'll remember you all of my days.
If anyone deserves paradise, sweet Darrell, it is you,
And I hope we'll be together, when my time is through.
Dear sweet Darrel, salt of the earth,
The best man I've ever known,
Not one of us can measure your worth,
Nor the love you've unconditionally shown.
I see you now, everywhere I turn,
And I must admit, these bitter tears burn,
For I miss you so much that it rips up my heart
Even though I know we're not really apart.
For how could I be apart from such as you?
You who gave such love, it simply cannot be.
And I'm happy that your struggles are through,
For I see you now, running proud, singing strong, flying free.
See you in no time at all,
Faith
