SS 7 -
Estuary FC 1
20th Sept 2005
This week saw us play Estuary FC for the 4th time, having never beaten them before in the times we previously played them.

The match started badly with me being caught in a ‘2 on 1’ situation, which resulted in them scoring the opening goal in their first attack. We quickly hit back with Steve scoring a decent strike after stepping in for Tom and James at the last minute. From that point we continued to play as a team and after 2 goals from Paul were 3 – 1 at half time.

The 2nd half started in the same vain of form as we ended the first with domination from the SS, which culminated in 3 goals for Paul and a good free kick from Andy. We didn’t have complete domination of the 2nd half as occasionally they would spark into life and Dave would be called into action.

Overall a complete performance against a team that was playing in the prem 2 seasons ago. Next week we have RBS Utd in a crunch game.

SS 11 - RBS Utd 2
27th Sept 2005
This week we played the team directly below us in 3rd place and this would be a crucial match. Without both Tom & Spanton tonight, we brought in Graham C to bring our squad up to 6 players (which was lucky as James C was late).

The match started well with us taking a 1 – 0 lead after a left footed strike by me in the first couple of minutes, assisted by Andy. We were all over an RBS side and Andy quickly set up another one for Paul to increase our lead. After a 2nd by me, a goal from Graham and Andy scoring his well deserved goal, we had a 5 goal lead. We were all over RBS Utd and constantly on top, the only blip being a sloppy goal which we conceded. At half time it was 5 – 1 and we were in complete control.

The 2nd half started in the same way with Graham commanding the back line and setting up James C for his goal after a nice little flick. The rest of the goals were scored by Paul (2) and me (3), one a needless drag over which I’m surprised I didn’t fall over for. A lot of credit had to go to Andy & Paul as they set up a majority of the goals. We again had a defensive blip by conceding another goal, but after scoring 11 it was not that important.

Overall a solid performance, strong at the back and sharp at the front, it puts us in a strong position.
SS 3 - D&B United 3
4th Oct 2005
This week we played D&B United in a game that could guarantee us promotion, or make us wait a week to see if promotion could be gained.

The details of this match are very hazy, so if I have made any errors please feel free to tell me. The match started badly for us as we conceded a well worked goal; at this point I thought it would be a tough night. We created a few chances in the first half and eventually Paul managed to equalise, before Andy put us into the lead with a decent strike.

The 2nd half started in the same way with both teams quite closely matched. D&B United equalised half way through the 2nd half, before Paul scored his 2nd of the night to put us back into the lead. After this point it was quite an even game, until Andy was sinned binned for a succession of offences. The remaining 3 players (Me, Paul, Spanton), defended resolutely and only conceded 1 goal to eventually draw the match.

Overall a good match and the point has almost secured promotion, we have Anglo-Italia next week and who knows we might lose, weirder things have happened. Us and D&B were quite evenly matched tonight & I think a draw was a fair result.
SS 2 - Anglo-Italia FC 5
11th Oct 2005
This week we played against Anglo-Italia FC already knowing that D&B United had lost, therefore making us promoted.

The match started badly with us conceding a well worked goal, after our defence fell asleep. We proceeded to continue to play in that form conceding another 2, one of them an own goal, before Paul scored to get one on the board. At this point I thought the come back was on, but it wasn’t to be.

The 2nd half was a bit more even, although there all round play didn’t look like a team that hadn’t won all season. They scored 2 in this half with neat well worked goals and probably deserved more. Our only consolation was Tom’s goal to make the score a bit more respectable.

Overall a poor performance, we didn’t concentrate, but we had just been promoted so I am not going to be too harsh. Anglo-Italia played well and we didn’t just walk over them, which was probably our mindset. They were hungry, solid, passed the ball well and fully deserved the win.
dddd
I’m usually horribly wrong with predictions, but this season I was exact. I said B.T. FC would finish as Champions with either us or D&B United in 2nd place. We finished 2nd, D&B finished 3rd and I feel that we deserved to go up. Although we finished 8 points from 1st place we played well, beat the teams around us and were the best of the rest. A big well done to everyone that played this season and we now have to adapt to a whole new challenge next season.
