SS 2 - 5-Alive 2    26th April 2005
After a few days mulling over this match, I have finally got around to writing this match report. This was a bottom of the table clash and would play a big part in where we finish this season.

We started the match brightly and created lots of chances. Paul eventually scored to break the deadlock and go 1 – 0 up. We were still creating chances, but with one of there only attacks of the game they equalised. At half time we should have been comfortably in the lead.

The 2nd half started in the same way with us pressurising 5-Alive, yet we still couldn’t make our chances count. They soon took the lead after a mix up with the two James’s to give them a simple tap in. We soon hit back with a close range strike from Paul to level the match. One incident of note during the 2nd half was 5-Alive’s smallest player, taking offence to be nudged of the ball using body strength from Andy. The ref didn’t see this as a foul, but he didn’t like that and subsequently reacted as if physical contact was not allowed in football.

Overall this was a match that we dominated and should have comfortably scored double figures, although I would have been happy with just 3.
Season 14
This was a close match against 5-Alive which we nearly lost and could shape the coming season.

The first half was a bit of a disaster with our new positions not really taking effect and us losing an early goal. As the half went on 5-Alive had more of the possession, created more chances and were on top. We conceded another before we eventually scored our first of the night after a strike from Paul. They then scored two goals after our sloppy defending to lead at half time 4 – 1.

The 2nd half we were a team rejuvenated with a total of 5 goals. The positions worked better in the 2nd half and we looked like a team who could play football. The 2nd half started well, with both Paul & Andy scoring to close the deficit, but as soon as we did that they scored to stretch the league again. A quick strike form Andy which bounced in off the cross bar and a strike from Paul levelled it with 3 minutes to go. The winning goal came from a glorious pass from Andy and a nice finish from me into the bottom corner.

This was a good result which everyone played there heart out and showed that we are not as bad as our league position has suggested in previous seasons.
Season 15
SS 5 - 5-Alive 3 19th July 2005
This was our first match since we came back form the holiday and it was imperative that we got off to a good start.

The match started well and I scored an early goal to settle us down. We then scored another good goal from Paul, but conceded as sloppy goal to go in 2 – 1 at half time. The first half we had lots of chances, including a shot that hit the post from Spanton and should have been leading by more.

The 2nd half started well, with Spanton finally scoring a goal after drilling it into the bottom corner. We then nearly pressed the self destruct button, after conceding a sloppy goal and gifting a goal to them after a mix up between Dave and Tom. At this point we became more direct and after Tom scored two goals, put some clear distance between us and 5 Alive with 5 minutes to go. This match was very niggly in the 2nd half, with lots of late challenges, especially on Andy.

Overall a good start to the season and hopefully against Back Of The Net FC next week, we can gain another 3 points.
Season 16
SS 7 - 5-Alive FC 1    6th Sept 2005
This match was against a team we have beaten on the last 2 occasions so hopefully we would beat them again.

The match started well with us all over 5-Alive FC and their keeper having to make some good saves. We eventually took the lead after a strike from me and after 2 free kicks from Paul took a 3 – 0 lead. We scored another one before half time with a strike from Paul Mcf to have a 4 goal lead at the break.

At the start of the 2nd half we came out and played the same way, but conceded a goal after the defender turned James C in our box. James C then went on to make up for it by beating two players and slotting in a nice goal in the bottom left hand corner. The rest of the 2nd half we were all over them restricting there chances to a minimum, whilst scoring 2 goals one from Paul and a decent strike from myself.

Overall a good solid display and again showed what we can do as a team. We are still top of the table and a crunch game is next week against B.T. FC.
